Adobe Acrobat Is TOO EXPENSIVE!! Looking for an alternative

I can't afford to spend hundred of dollars for software that I'm only going to use once or twice. Any good alternatives? Is there software that I can use to convert a .html file into a PDF file? I want it to convert with all the links and images. I have no idea how Adobe Acrobat and PDF files work so I'm not so sure if this question makes sense.

There was already a similar discussion about this a few days back. You can use pdf995 which can be found at pdf995.com. I've used it in the past and it works really well. There are plenty of others too although I haven't personally used many of them. Google something like "free html to pdf converter" and I'm sure you'll find a lot of useful info.

    Cheers

It's used to "convert" files. What software am I supposed to use to make the "main" ebook?

Sure why not, openoffice is in essence a free Microsoft Office with more features such as exporting to pdf etc

This program is GREAT! It's really simple and user-friendly. At least it is for me. I'm suprised they're not charging anything for it.

Well glad to have another convert :) It is open source therefore there is no charge. Something like the Linux and Apache that powers most of the servers here.

Also, how do you make the document to where you can't edit it anymore? I don't want somebody taking out the copyright, etc. and claiming it as their own work.

Is there any way to make it to where you can't highlight the text?

If you are so worried about people coping text then write a real book.

People still can edit your PDF until you change the security setting. I'm using Adobe Acrobat now and I don't know if the free software that recommended from previous post have this setting or not.

All you have to do is just choose "No changing the document" in the security setting.
