Any pro wp theme designers around? - (need advice please)

    I have spent much time designing my first ever wp-theme.
    A big issue I'm facing is "cross-browser compatibility". The theme I made look great in Opera, good in mozilla, but not as desired in Internet Explorer.

    I have spent 3 days trying all tricks that I have googled for, but none was good. The tricks in question was trying out php if-else for different browsers..etc But this is very tedious..

    Please can any experts around give me a sincere help with this issue?

    I will give you credit for your advice when I will make a post about my first theme. I will link to your site too.

    Sincere regards,

    Use IE conditional comments to make IE render it right. Conditional comments place HTML code on the page that ONLY ie will see and render. This is a great help in fixing IE only issues. There are conditional comments for IE in general, IE6 and IE7.

    Enjoy

    I have done this for Mozilla.. but the problem is when I try the theme with other more browsers, the result is not to the expectation.

    When I view other pro design, they all give same result in whatever browser I view them.. I would like to achieve this result too..

    If you are having issues with paddings and margins being different on diff browsers try adding something similar to the following code in your css sheet before you start coding.

    CSS:

    * {
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    }

    Code (markup):

    You've got two excellent tips so far in this thread. If you are trying to make every single browser look exactly the same I'd suggest you not sweat it. There will probably always be slight differences. besides firefox, Opera and IE I would look at Safari and not sweat the rest.

    Are you aiming for all user agents or just graphical browsers? Please check the Interoperability link in my signature block.

    Sorry, wakish, my page is intended to be informational and present considerations to keep in mind when composing web pages.

    I personally compose my pages using standards compliant Markup and then Validate it. Validation does not insure desired page display -- pages that fail validation usually display well in graphical Browsers anyway due to their built-in Markup discrepancy compensation -- but it does catch many easily corrected Markup errors and the resultant code is likewise easy to maintain or change.

    Your site timed out.

    You have some good tips here. Validate it and if it's valid post again and maybe I can find a few minutes to look it over.
