I read the article, I use Vista, and think your article contains good information. Perhaps the negative reputation of Vista and the decline of first year sales is hurting your traffic/CTR?

The ads are far away from the text.
That's wht the CTR is low.

Try to move the ads on the right of the text and test it for a few days.

I tried putting the ad on the right. In fact, the CTR goes down by 70 percent than before if it's on the right. And I am using the same ad placement as I did in the old template, except the old template had two sidebars.

How can I blend them in? I think the default palette does the best job since it has the same font color.

on your homepage, i c your ad on the right and on this page, its on the left. compare your visitors and see which ad placement is better. and you know why your old template was making you more. implement the same ad placement and you should get the same CTR. and if all fails, then changing the templae back would be an alternative. after all, when it comes down to sacrifice 50% revenue, you need to make a decision its the template you like more or 50% increase in adsense revenue

First the ads look far from the test . try to place the text in the right side and adsense units in the left .
In addition u are using only one adsense block u can try to add more . another one just under your first text (468x60) and another link unit just at the button of your review or at the start . good luck

my old template used the same placement but I guess the investment in the new template isn't worth it. I'll try switching back for 2 days and see what happens.

Hmm, the Vista article has some images that get my attention. Perhaps if you would have more text content in the beginning, then the images would not be so obvious first...

One thing that came to my mind: You are using just one ad slot? Why not put some link unit or header banner in the top? And then perhaps ads right after your article?

And one more thing, you might want to read Some Adsense tips that quadrupled my CTR and got me some more $$$ <- there's some info you could try.

I'm thinking it may be my new template but I'm not sure WHY. Because nothing has changed other than the template, and a right sidebar instead of left.

Yet the CTR got cut in half.

You really need to use channels to track what's going on. If new template halved your CTR... then do something about the template :) Put the sidebar to the left for starters.
