I have never heard the extension of a domain is looked at as being better or worse in the algorithm. It is IBL and Content. People may remember your domain better if you pick a more popular one like .com or .net.

Yup :) Teenforum.tv ranks on the first page for the term Teen Forum.. I think that with enough of hard work you can get .tv's to rank really high..

I have several .tv domains and they all rank pretty well. Don't hesitate. Besides, i prefer .tv better than all other extensions(except .com surely)

Most! .tv domains are purely dedicated to TV Media plus they get more traffic socially than from Local Search Engines

How many times must we go through this every week!

The domain extentions do not get any special seo value. They are all considered the same value seo wise to search engines. *.edu, *.gov, *.com, etc have the same SEO value as lets sat *.ws, *.org or *.tv the extention does not matter. The reason you see certian extentions more than others in the SERPs is because they've been around much longer, hell some of the extentions weren't even around when many sites were born.

You want to register a domain name that...

    A. Is easy to remember (This helps direct visits)
    B. Includes keywords related to your site. (This can be abused and hurt you)
    C. Choose what is best for you.

I have many sites that have not a single keyword in the domain name related to my site and out rank all the other sites, again you don't NEED the keywords in the domain, you can make a site dedicated to SEO with the domain sockpuppet.com and stick rank #1.

Extension doesn't matter but in my opinion the average user prefers to see a .com, .net, etc. because they are used to it (when they are trying to choose a site from the results page).

.tv is great for video sites. My google theory seems to be traffic + domain / title / keyword matches + relative content.

Seems to work on my .tv domains, which are generally easy to get for their price range, so, it's able to provide better keywords, with my above theory.

But I'm crazy. I wouldn't listen to anything I had to say.

The tld doesn't effect search results, they are just as good as any other domain.
