How did DP get Popular?

    Ok I understand DP is a great WEBMASTER community but how did this place get so huge..? Did they start Advertising or just natural Traffic.. i noticed it is old .. many thats why it has gained enough links and has a great PR so idk... What do you think or if you know Great :)

    Who knows. Its pretty much on autopilot now with the hard work and effort put in by the mods.

    I think Shawn (the owner) pushed it really hard in the beginning in order to get it off the ground. Just like any other forum really.

    Shawn must be living the good life right now .. he doesnt even have to look at this site and he is still receiving high paying checks and probably doesnt even need to work :) That is gReat!

    Shawn was well respected at another forum. When that was sold he started dp and everyone there was grateful for an alternative, and less commercial forum for our SEO type discussions. Shawn then tinkered about and added the keywords tool and then the coop. Those 2 projects would have had a "viral" effect and drawn the vast majority of early users in. Once the forum hit a critical mass it didn't need advertising.

    Actually a good site dont need advertising! you just need to have good content and need some paitent!

    I actually JUST remembered how I found the site, I was talking to some guy on IM and I showed him a link to some forum and said this is a huge forum, and he said you wanna see a huge forum? check out forums.digitalpoint.com and the rest is history :D
