well, what are best ways to get loads of traffic that is adsense safe, lets tabulate here
    1. SEO
    2. DIRECTORY SUBMISSIONS
    3. STUMBLE UPON
    4. SOCIAL SITES
    5. PAID ADVERTISING
    6 Buy Traffic

I have found 5th to be best as it brings in interested visitors but is usually not cheap

What else do you recommend and whats your experience with it?

You have to make sure the site you buy traffic from does not advertise on certain sites.

    Seo is the best

    Depends on your budget.

If you have $$$$ to spend, #3, #5 and #6 will work wonders. If you dont, do #1 and #2. Just my 2 cents!

well, I have a question or rather doubt about seo
even though if it works out, it is the best for sure
    but
is it worth spending xxx $ on seo for adsense based sites that get penny clicks sometimes or on average no more than 10 cents, that too with 5-10% ctr
and how much traffic it can generate anyways
with option 5 one can buy a lot at least. not with seo, isn't it?
again I am asking specifically from aDSESNSE point of view

    1. SEO < By far the best but requires some knowledge and work

    2. DIRECTORY SUBMISSIONS < Will not get you much traffic but will help you in your SEO efforts

    4. SOCIAL SITES < Will get you lots of traffic if it's used right, usually with social sites try to give to the community something before you can expect to post your link on the website and get away with it.

    5. PAID ADVERTISING < Would be my second choice require less work and less knowledge than SEO but you have to spend money

6 Buy Traffic < Sometimes very risky especially if you don't know the source of the traffic. Google usually frown upon unnatural traffic schemes

I like squidoo. It is a PR6 site and if nothing else is a free link provided you put in good content. If you submit to a directory that was "slapped" recently by google, you risk losing pagerank too.

How about signature links in relevant forums to your niche? It does not bring in loads of traffic, but the traffic they bring usually converts.

SEO, is the best way to get the most targeted traffic. Traffics from social networking sites do not convert much.

That's observant of cool 78 to point out forum link signatures. Aatma, you should use your signature like cool 78 said. Even though this is a webmaster forum, we still buy things and have hobbies like other 'normal' people!

By the way, add classified ad sites to your list. Besides craigslist, there are other free ones that actually send traffic. It's not a lot, but every visitor adds up!

I agree with most of you but differ on one thing. You guys are of the opinion that SEO is the best. sure it is provided but can do it easily and quickly, results show up fast and you get tonnes of traffic
    but does that actually happen?
seo is very expensive or takes forever to show results whereas with paid ads one gets lots of interested users almost within 24 hours. since they are interested in the ad headline chances are they will stay and browse several pages.
unless one gets like 10000 UV daily, i dont think adsense can deliver any money at all.
correct me if i am wrong

Stumbling is useless imo. Because the traffic you gain isn't long lasting. 1 day max. People aren't interesting in your site, they are just there to stumble it :) Just my 2 cents

If it's a highly competitive niche, the answer is no, it takes some time for seo. In non competitive niches, it's easier to rank but for much less traffic.

I think the original poster wants to make money from adsense, so using paid ads like adwords, ypn, etc. would just amount to arbitrage. That makes for a thin profit margin and it's very easy to lose money instead.

Different niches pay different rates. If one is making .03 a click, then it would take a lot of visitors to make money. If one is making $1 a click, then it takes less traffic to make good money. Some talk of very low click through rates (<1%), while others have 20%+. Using the stats people have discussed on this forum, a higher paying niche can easily earn $1 - $20 for every 100 visitors.

Besides the niche, ad placement and traffic sources are important factors to maximize earnings.

Yes and no, I have had several people register on my blog from Stumble traffic. In order to get any long term effect, the post has to be interesting, informative, or controversial. It takes 30 seconds to stumble a site but could bring you a few clicks and some return visits. I would not classify that as worthless or useless.

The overall best method is SEO but the other five can be part of your SEO efforts.

I agree with most of the above members :)

Organic traffic is still the best performer for Adsense. You would need tons of social bookmarking traffic to generate sustainable income.

Nobody mentioned that social bookmark traffic does not convert well for Adsense. Stumble Upon is famous for this, and Digg also.

well as long as one can pull in huge traffic whether via stunbleupon or social, one can rake in some money.
but somehow i simply can not believe that one can make a site about something, seo it and then expect it to make money via adsense. Thats way too much expectations from a program that pays pennies. I guess this is root cause of 95% failures
If i can make a site show up on frontpage of google/yahoo, then why look at adesnse at all. I would rather sell something expensive in that case and make $xxxx every month rather than $xx
