Google explicitly mentions that submitting your website is no guarantee when and if Google will index it! Adding your website to one of those popular social bookmarking websites often helps. Mine got indexed within several hours to a top ten position in Google SERPs. Don't be surprised if your website drops in ranking subsequently! They usually do! Just be patient and continue the optimisation of your website.

Along with the suggestions above, some other avenues to getting your new website indexed include:

    • Put it in your Digital Point signature
    • If you have another indexed website (or a friend's), link to your new site from that already-indexed site's home page or from another frequently-crawled page. As soon as your new site is indexed, you can (if you wish) remove the link on the other website.

Agree with most of the above...

Another trick that can help - write a decent article, and then submit it to Digg. A few minutes later, go to pingomatic.com and ping that article (Digg link).

I've been in Google that way within hours, not days.

So doing all of the above will get you in quick :)

Submit a press release. You will be promoting your site and will get a link to your site in the process. With a link your site will be indexed.

Just get as many links as possible and your site will eventually get crawled and indexed.

Write an article using your keyword in the title, and in the first 100 characters and last paragraph, and also about once more each 400 words, and then submit it to as many directories as you can. Include your URL in the author's resource box and you will probably be crawled within hours, if not quicker. It is best for a quick listing for the inital asrticle to provide the address of your home page, and that the article is written on a topic relevant to that page. Home pages tend to be listed the quickest, and you work on internal pages later.

No only will the articles provide you with great one way links back to your home page, but the directories tend to be spidered regularly, and your site will be found naturally by Google without you having to submit. It helps to include an xml sitemap on your website, and also to add your site on Google Webmaster Tools and then submit the sitemap.

Whether or not you are listed, and the position of that listing, depend upon the content and relevance of your webpage to the search term being used by the Google user: or that of any other search engine for that matter.

Contrary to popular belief, this is the biggest waste of time submitting to the google add url page. Instead, you can get indexed within 72 hours if you put your link in your DP signature, get some links from webpages with at least PR4+, etc. Google will than follow these links (crawl them) and find your website within less than a week. Waiting for Google to manually add your website to there index may takes months and they may never even add it. Not to mention, even if they DO add it chances are it will only rank for the website's name (assuming it isnt competitive). At least if you get links to your site with your anchor text your beginning the process of getting it ranked and it will get indexed faster; this process "kills two birds with one stone" (faster indexing and SERP increases).

The absolute quickest way to get indexed is to create a Google Webmaster Tools account and submit your site's sitemap there.

I find that my sites are usually index within 24 hours after setting them up in the Webmaster Tools.

Your site should get picked up with it in the signature of your posts in the forum as these forums are spiders quite often I believe. Sign up to a high traffic directory or submit an article or PR. This will get you indexed within a week. Simply submitting your URL to Google will take months to get indexed. Why wait the time when you can skip the entire process. Once your site is found by the spiders it will be indexed!

In my opinion the Google Sandbox in respect of holding sites awaiting listing is a myth, since I can have any site listed in a maximum of 48 hours, but generally inside 24. What Google does do, however, is to 'sandbox' the effect of links from highly ranked sites so that webmasters cannot artificially create high listing positions rapidly to web pages simply through PageRank gained from these links. That's why it takes so long to build up a high PR.

Being spidered is only part of the battle. Whether you are actually listed or not depends on a number of factors. These include:

Duplicate content: if a web page contains content significantly similar to that of other web pages already indexed, you will likely not be indexed. Your home page, particularly, should be unique since home pages tend to be listed first and highest.
Relevance: Your page must be relevant to the search term (keyword) used by the search engine user to find information. If so it will likely be listed, and the degree of relevance will affect the listing position.
Optimization The degree of on-site search engine optimization on each page affects its listing position (e.g. use of Title and Heading tags, text formating and use of keywords and semantically relevant text).
Link Structure: Density and structure of internal navigation links and links from other sites to the page in question will also help your listing position over the longer term (see above sandbox ref).

Many people make the mistake of not having their links directed to the more important pages on their site. Keep in mind also that a link is only as good as the PR of the page providing it. A PR 8 site could be giving you a link from a PR 0 page. The PR 8 is likely to be only that of the home page, and who gets links back from home pages?

Search engines will visit any web page address it finds, and the quickest way to secure a visit are those recommended on this forum such as using a URL in a forum signature, article submissions, website directory submissions and any other way you can think of having your web address placed on any site that is itself frequently visited by search engines.

This info is basic to most people, but is frequently misunderstood by those new to internet and search engine marketing. Concentrate on your home page first, make it relevant and properly optimized with lots of relevant vocabulary without overemphasis on the keyword itself, and you should be listed once visited.

Many sites are visited but not indexed, and if that is you then change the content and structure of your home page so that you are sure it is original. Use Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools to find out any problems the spiders have found on your site and also how frequently your site is being visited by spiders and people. If you are visited by search engines but not listed, then you know you have to do more work. If you have not been visited then write more articles, and visit more forums, until you are.

Sorry about the length of this post, but I know personally how frustrating it can be when you have worked hard but not been listed. Be patient and securing a good rapid listing will eventually become second nature to you. I know it can be hard but keep at it and you will succeed. Perseverence is the key to internet success. :)
