Need Indian help to sell --"Sholay Ka Shika"

First of all I am sorry to post this topic in Dp forum as my query's niche is not relevant as per the forum's niche. Since there are lots of Indian who have good marketing skills I guess, they can help/show me the way. Request to Moderator, please don't delete this thread.

I have the rarest, most popular and one of the most unique Indian coin-- a double headed 5 rupee Indian coin, better known as "Sholay ka Sikha", which every Indian(almost 1 billion people) knows about, because of one of the most blockbuster movie of Bollywood- "Sholay". I bought this coin couples of years back, when I was in Standard 8, from my friend at INR Rs. 25000 with my parent's money.

Now I am looking to sell the coin, I went to ebay for auction but found Indian people don't pay much for the coin. There is almost no bid for the high figures. I also google for selling the coin but hardly found any site for this coin where I can get interested people. I even got a NRI at that time(while I was on vacation to Rajasthan with my family) who offered to pay around INR Rs 3,00,000 ($6000 at that time) for the coin, when he knew about it .But at that time I was adamant, i want to keep it with myself and didn't sell.

Now what do you think should I do to sell at that rate ?? Please suggest.

Now that you have denied to the big $6000 offer....there is only one thing you can do....
toss the coin...if its heads sell it for free...if its tails then sell it for 5rs..

 

I can suggest you few names if you can contact them, Anil Ambani, Mukesh Ambani, Rattan Tata, Laxmi Mittal and ofcourse Mr. Chhatwal....these are person you can sell.. Sorry I can not give you their contact no. here as per the security reasons

 

I do not think that you will get $6000 for your "Sholey Ka Shika". It's a too huge amount. You need to think yourself that If you can not sell the same coin to indian guy who knows the speciality of this coin (Only in movie, no speciality in real world, after all it's only copper or any other metal coin") in less price, why a foreigner will pay you more than indian who knows about it.

May be you will make fool to a foreigner who have a big buck pocket to spend on your coin but not too much.

Instead of making fool to a guy, you can do any other business.

If you really want to sell this coin to only foreigner, you post listing on ebay in "foreign listing section" instead of regular listing. This type of listing is chargable in ebay.in. You need to ask for help to ebay. They will help you out.

Hi buddy, here is my opinion.
First make a short home video of it & explain its importance with reference of sholay clip.
Then contact news channels like India TV, Star news, Aaj tak, IBM7, sahara news, Zee news etc. submit your video to them and ask for a live interview in there ajab gajab section. If you succeed to get an interview with any this channel, half battle is won.
Then either you contact film celebrities or business tycoons personally or arrange an auction in Mumbai with reasonable promotion. You will get more than 3,00,000.
*While contacting personally give a reference of News channel interview.
**OR when you arrange an auction declare that you will donate money to some charitable institution, bcoz of it auction will get free media attention.
This is a chance and you have to take it.

Reading all other replies, I could make out why their are only very few billionaires in the world. Now, no matter what I will sell this coin at no less than $6000. Lets see how long does it take ??

You can sell it by changing your marketing tactic. If the coin is geniune, then don't call it "Sholay ka sikka". Instead, just explain that you have a rare coin that has heads on both sides which happened due to a manufacturing glitch. This happens maybe less than once in a billion times. You will get offers from foreigners too. Or try to find out some coin collector who has experience in collecting rare coins. Maybe he can help you sell it.
