You can change the settings, not to send email for PMs!

I also replied to his PM. Is that OK or does it cause any trouble?

If you entered your userID and password at the page sent to you, then change your password now!

Also the scammer is banned now!

roystonjames has sent me one of these phishing attempts

Unfortunately, this seems to be on a different Hostgator account. Those 1 cent signup coupons are being used for pure evil I tell ya! :D

Seriously, I hope we can attract some attention to this, and maybe if the mods are on their toes, they can figure out a good IP range to ban from the server. I doubt the crazy URL would have caught many DP users, but this new URL is something a little harder to pick out. It's dangerous enough to deserve a sticky somewhere promenant.

DP User roystonjames has sent me one of these phishing attempts

I am aware of at least three seperate domains and three seperate users who are sending out simmilairly themed PMs. If you are an active Buy/Sell/Trade user, Be extra careful of the URL of the page you login to. It should always read forums.digitalpoint.com and never anything else.

The phishing attempts have been especially prevelent over the past couple of days, and could continue for quite a while. A few hostgator accounts have been shut down, but the phisher seems to have multiple accounts.

Other reported Phishing Attempts targeting Buy / Sell / Trade Users:

Users who are reported to have attempted to gain access to DP Users Account information by operating simmilarly themed Phishing websites:
    • roystonjames
    • saurabh_kumar
    • brutalisk
    • anzaroth
    • asid_amin_o
    • averytape
    • Dolin
    • pandaman1
    • andyjames28

Finally, Anyone who thinks their account information may be comprimised, Log in immediately and change your password! The only way the user can steal your account is if they login and change the password and email address to your account. If you immediately change your password, you can thwart the phisher's attempt to steal your account.

Hopefully this can provide a warning to other DP users.

    Regards,
    James
