Hi my paypal account has been compromised. I cannot login. Can someone please tell me how I can contact them by phone, because every time I try they ask for my phone number and they're not accepting the number. Thanks
then contact them by web contact page... also there phone number is on there contact page... there is no other number for public other then the one on there site... but keep in mind that paypal ignore there customers most of the time so you will have to keep trying...
PayPal doesn't necessarily ignore their customers, so much as have too much on their plate to handle. But I think they have a nice security department that would reset your account if you called in and verified that you are the true owner. Maybe there's another reason you can't login to your account (like PayPal suspension)
I'm from Europe, I phoned USA number, they didn't accept my phone number. I Phoned Dublin Call Centre, the same story. I contacted them by email too. I just don't know what's going on on my account.
It's not a paypal suspension because the person who took control of my account also changed the password on my email.

Tried phoning them, they ask my phone number and whenever I enter my phone number I get an error message saying that they don't have it in their database. The person who hacked in my account probably changed all the info including phone number. I sent them an email via their help desk a few hrs ago.
Just ask to speak with a representative, I'm sure they have an option that lets you speak with a PayPal rep without giving your phone number out. If anything, tell their stupid little phone system that you aren't a current customer or something so you can get an actual human on the phone. 1-888-221-1161 is their general phone number as well
Are you serious or are you joking? Because I always get frustrated when the options don't have anything related to my case and I have to talk to a sales agent to get forwarded to the right person...

I tried to contact the paypal for some clarification through mail but after a week, I received a reply stating that they were too busy and told me to contact through the phone which I did but they never responded. Is paypal ill staffed / understaffed to manage their day-today businesses?
You can say you aren't a current customer or something...I know for a fact that you can speak to a PayPal agent without being a current customer Thanks, why don't you try that dannyboy? Like I said, they are a big business, they probably prioritize their problems...But like any big business they should be well-staffed nevertheless..

I'm sure if you tell an agent that your email AND account was hacked, they'll do something for you. And stop posting that you can't talk to an agent, because I called them today and talked to an agent without my phone number.
Ok what procedure did you go through to talk to an agent. Because this is the first thing I hear when I phone. Welcome to paypal.... Please enter your phone number including your area code... After I enter the number ... i get an error saying that they don't have it on record. Then I'm asked if I have a paypal account - I chose no (so I'm not asked for a phone number). Then I'm asked I've I've ever used paypal - I chose no as well. Then I'm redirected to a sort of audio intro section, where I can get an audio playback on practically everything in their FAQ file on site. I'd love to know what order you went to to speak to a agent. PS: I's been 3 days and I haven't received an email from paypal
