Flash News I just finished watching the News Here In Japan and SONY JAPAN have announced that they are discontinuing the production of the ps3 , They said that sales of the ps2 are still continuing and rising and that also the the other cause of down turn in ps3 sales was due to incompatibility with the ps2 game software with the ps3, Hmmmm Interesting .

lol... I think there discontinuing the ps3 with the 60GB harddrive. I don't think they would discountiue the ps3. That would be crazy..

Nothing was mentioned in the news clip about if it was just the 60 gb mod or the whole ps3 range . Ill have to catch the the early news before I go to work to see if there is any more mention of it .
Hmm... I thought Japan was only discontinuing the 60 GB and 20 GB models... and focusing only on the 40GB? I really don't think they'd end PS3 just like that...

i think discontinuing the 60GB would be ok as only few people are able to buy such monstrosity of a price. Anyways, it would be suicidal if they would stop production for the entire PS3 franchise. Also, they wouldn't embarrass themselves by doing so.

Don't look forward to a PS4. Sony is being a baby and says if they cannot make a good profit on this they will quit the game market for good. Guess the PS2 profit wasn't good enough.
Where did they say that? Because I was under the impression Sony's most profitable division was the games, and I would think they would try again, but just fix the problems they've had this generation. And the PS3 isn't out of it, at all, they might be selling the most, but they are certainly selling.
Doesnt make sense for them to discontinue all ps3 products. I am sure its the 20gb and 60gb like someone said before this makes sense. There is no reason for sony to discontinue all ps3 products as they would lose millions!!!
