Hi All, Need your opinions on this. Is it not better to focus on building your seach engine page rank rather than pay Adwords for ads? If not, under what circumstance? Thank you
Do both. PPC is instant, SEO could take quite a while (if ever) to show up at the top of page 1 for your target keywords.
Definetely because with SERPS there are no overhead costs like there are with adwords. But as a lot of people know here SERP results can dissapear for a site over night, whereas adsense traffic will not. I agree with the first reply. Use both.
Also, PPC can give you a quick idea of how much traffic you can get if you get your advert to the top of the search results. There are a number of things to consider - do you have a realistic chance of getting a high position through SEO, and what will it cost? PPC can generate you leads at whatever cost per lead you can afford, and you are competing on a level battlefield with your competitors. And you can start getting significant traffic in about 10 minutes or so. On the other hand, it's always going to cost you the same - SEO may be very economical once you get to the top of the tree. There's definitely a case for both of them...
Very true. I know a lot of people who earn nothing from the search engines and hundreds when using adwords. SEO has to remain the king though. When ranked 1st on google, often don't need adwords.
if you are looking to get instant traffic... get it within minutes ... then you can go for PPC.... for SEO if you are willing to wait for days, weeks, months of time.. then go ahead and do that..
SEO is a long way, and PPC is an expensive shortcut to instant traffic. So if you don't want to spend much money, go for SEO, but it's going to be really difficult. You have to know how to optimize a website properly. SEO got a big benefit, that if you get to top positions for some keywords, you will stay there for long and traffic will be huge. Also you won't have to pay anything to Google.
If you have direct competitors that have adwords, then I think you really have to, otherwise you've just handed them the unchallenged opportunity to have their ad at the top of the listings, and/ or an ad AND a listing on the search page.
Results differ industry by industry but for e-tailers, especially those selling consumer products, it is important to do both SEO & PPC. Not only is PPC quick and instant, but you can change your ad text immediately to highlight sale prices, free shipping this week, etc. When done right, it can be extremely profitable.
Use a combination of both, often times your adwords ad will start showing up on different adsense pages, sometimes they happen to be good ones, so at least in google analytics it says some of your external links are from some great pages that adwords on, it has to have some merit to SEO right? Regardless, both is a great suggestion, it will at least help you out with what kyword to use for SEO
Excersise extreme caution when implementing an adwords campaign, in my opinion it is wise to turn off "Content network" or else you will find your ad accumulating a ton of untargeted clicks that will drive your adspend through the roof If you want your ad to show on targeted sites that have adsense then use the "pacement targeting" option

You can track conversion rates with PPC, measure ROI, then plan an SEO strategy based on your findings. This works a treat.
I use both- My adwords end is for put lead generation (driven to a direct squezzepage) I have it set up using approx 20c a click to making sales every day to cover the cost- effectively making my adwords free! - plus list growing to over 1000 while doing it

So pretty much, if you want your site to go really big just use adwords. But im annoyed. I don't have a credit card so i can't use it can i?
most businesses require a perfect blend of both..... I personally prefer PPC.... juss too lazy for SEO ;O)
I've never done SEO, not worth the wait and the average internet use doesn't know the difference between paid listings and free listings. So if I can buy my way to the top of the page, that's what I'm going to do. Also, turning off the content network is flushing money down the toilet. I hope that's not what they're teaching people at wealthy affiliate because that's horrible advice. I've got campaigns running ONLY on the content network that are making some very nice profits. If I had a choice, and I do, I'd go with adwords everytime.
