I'm trying to create a source of passive income and want to know if anyone else has had success/failure with similar ventures before I put all this time and effort into building these sites. I plan on creating 20 subdomain sites with a popular blogging software (probably word press), then filling each site with 20-30 pages of unique content. I will run a minimal link building campain (I dont have time nor resources to do a full blown link building) And then trying to sell links with a couple of online link brokers and also adsense. Now I realize that each site wont bring in much a month, but times that by 20 and it sould produce something right? Will this work? Anyone done something like this and actually produced something like $100/month?
For the actual selling of links, there is a lot of obsession with PR. So to start with you would probably only be able to generate quite low amount from the links Eg $5 (total) for a link on all 20, or something like that.
I think that it will work till you get the Google slap and your PR drops to 0. When that happens nobody will pay for a link from a PR 0 site.
well you make it sounds like making subdomains with content and out adsense on it is something extraordinary...but its cerrainly very common. I dont think its a bad idea, but dont lose track with the number of sites (as i do Better keep number low and do focus on CONSTANTLY spromoting them, building links, submitting them to bookmarking services etc.etc.. Please keep in mind that ONE or TWO sites with good and constantly updated content (Blogs...) can be more profitable than 20 "made for Adsense" sites - but it certainly wont HURT if you get some traffic to them. Just make them too "adsense spammy" looking.
Didnt I read somewhere that Google is no longer counting subdomains as different sites? Some stuff here.. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/subdomains-and-subdirectories/ Be careful they all dont get banned! Best of luck buddy!
Lemme tell ya, Traffic will sell links better than PR. a pr 2 with 25000 uniques a month will pull more than a Pr 5 with 2500 month, in the long run
I wouldn't use subdomains. I would get a regular domain for each subdomain that you planned to use. If that is not within your budget then I would use different directories for each niche instead of subdomains. If you use directories for each blog and link everything together you site will be seen as having more pages which is not possible with subdomains
