History aren't kind to even huge and powerful companies if they do not manage themselves well, I think the Honourable East India Company was one of the example, setup as a trading company, it grew so powerful as to colonize other countries including India to monopolize trade, as it gets more powerful it gets more bold and end up triggering Boston Tea Party and other revolutions such that the British govt had to take over when it folded.
Yeah I agree with this, it's all about MANAGEMENT. Google have the advantage now, if they know how to improve periodically and invest serious funds in this, nobody could beat them. With their fame and funds they can attract the best staff from the globe.... but if they have some Management errors they might become vulnerable!
1) Previous Google employees do not have the capital to be able to compete against Google or the other top search engines. 2) No one can copy the Google Corporation's ideas as they are patented. Also, the important ideas are not shared with the "average" worker.
you dont need to "dethrone" google o...all you need to do is NOT use Google. (For a marketer ALMOST impossible ) I dont think that G will die....i rather think they might ADAPT. Net is constantly changing, right now we have a BIG influence of Web2.0 here with sites like digg, wikis etc.. and you see how G constantly tries to start something in the current "fads" also. Who knows how the net might look in 5+ years...i assume google people are pretty smart. They did not achieve their "monopoly" by selling BAD stuff and make it standard (like Microsoft ..... but rather since people use their services, day in and day out. What G offers is actually helpful and their apps are pretty ok also, usually. From a certain P.O.V. they "deserve" their position even if i otherwise dont like monopolists.
i highly doubt that the internet will end if google does and i also doubt that google will go anywhere
I think anyone who says that the "internet can die" is an absolute dumb a$$. Google is not going to die, yes there will be competition against it and it will eventually move down a little, but there is no reason for google to die. The internet also WILL NEVER DIE? Has the internet been getting smaller every year? No it has grown quite significantly each year ...yeah...your dumb..its ok.
There stocks already hit the 52 week low. I think it will go down a little lower There not doing enitrely sweet right now
Google is something that will have reign for a long time. Look at Microsoft for example. They've been in existence for a long time, and as they may not be the best when it comes to server operating systems and programs, they definitely lead in the home PC/user friendly operating systems. So take a look at them as similar to Microsoft. It'll be a long time before it happens if it does. Or simply, the internet will just completely go down and the world as we know it will end.

What is some major competition does arise? Google buys it out with enough extra to please any investors. So any great idea will either be bought by Google, or Google will release a better version of it....
Yeah, It will have an end sooner or later. I hear many things flooded around which saying about Japanese human-robot searching in the future. Who knows
It has nothing to do with Google being a better search engine. It's all about how they make money. If Yahoo or anyone else created something better than Adwords/Adsense that would serve up more relevant adds,pay publishers more, charge advertisers less and stop all the rampant click fraud , advertisers and publishers would simply stop using Google. It doesn't matter how many people use them to search if the aren't making the money then they are just another search engine.
Google has more leads and info into your personal life then the government. Soon the government will be cracking down and Google will going bye bye.. And what do you mean Extreme Monopoly occurs? It all ready has. 99.9% of searches come from Google. Look at your own AdSense #'s to figure that out. Once Google gets a bigger piece of Facebook than MS Complete Monopoly has occurred. The next step for Google will be A negative movement due to the government.. ask the google member guys that get on here to monitor By the way my AdSense numbers are going UP WHAA HOOO =) =P
google has become the king of the internet and i believe it's a strong king and i dont see any web site which can drop its kingdom
From what I know it is not for the lack of trying, they can't Microsoft bought a piece of it instead.
