It just means they detect it, and they're sharing the results with you. They have explicitly said that a nofollow is a means of not counting the link in their pagerank algorithm.

"They have explicitly said that a nofollow is a means of not counting the link in their pagerank algorithm."

    Who cares about pagerank.. lol

More importantly its the SERP.. and I for one think google is just playing us around. I believe No Follow help towards serp because of the anchor text.

Yet you can fight back my belief because pagerank is part of their SERP algorithm.

At the end just put it this.. its better to have a no follow link then no link at all..

Yes of course they are important. No follow just means that G will not pass PR. At least for now, that all it means.

Give me a no follow from CNN, Microsoft, and Fox News and I'm confident that my site's position in SERPs will improve significantly.

Technically nofollows are close to useless. Google tools show it but it means nothing. Just focus on dofollow links and your site should be powerful in no time.

No, links with no follow tags are of no use when it comes to calculating PR

Confidence has nothing to do with reality.

Google wants people to use no follow in certain circumstances because when it's used it eliminates the impact that link has on the natural results.

A nofollowed link won't influence the serps, regardless of what site it's on.
