Some of my sites' page rank dropped recently and I wonder how on earth I can prevent this happening in next PR update. Any suggestions appreciated.
I'm thinking that updating too frequently might be a bad thing, for a new site at least. My site is just over 5 months old, and after I had left it alone for about a week (no changes or updates), my ranking increased by about 500 positions. Then I made a change to the homepage, and it dropped 800 positions a day or two later. If the change wasn't the cause of it, then the only other thing it could have been is because I kept using DigPageRank to check to see if the PR update affected my homepage. I highly doubt it was the PR-checking activity that caused the significant drop in SERPs, because I could do that to my competitors. I think if you just establish the site and leave it alone, your chances are better of rising through the SERPs.
Try to build quality/ relevant links rather than paid ones. Add real and quality content to your site which would enable to acquire natural links, instead of you manually submitting to other sites which is time consuming factor. During the last PR update, I had bought some paid links for few of my sites. At the end, some of my sites which acquired natural link got higher PR than the ones for which I bought the paid links.
Weird thing is mine is from PR 6 to PR 5 to PR 4......but the SERP keep improving the PR keep dropping really strange thing. Normally it should be the other way round.
Another important thing is never advertise "Link for sales" in your pages. One of my friend has lost his PR from 4 to 0 in one single update. Be cautious.
There may be other causes to this. The PR8 page may have many other outbound links to other pages and it will not do your PR any good if it is of no relevancy. Another thing to note is that PR8 on the toolbar does not mean the real PR8.. the page may have dropped in PR under the Google database.
best advice is... udpate content make changes | try... to keep news or referral on other sites which crawls well on search engine...
Addition to above more quality links will get you Page Rank and more outgoing links will drop the pagerank... so.. use rel="nofollow". to all out going links. Thanks
Do you mean the way (number 5) shown in the following page? http://www.vinamaso.net/page_rank_10/index.html
many of the ways for preventing the rank drop, fist is to make the strong back-link and block the out going links from the site.
