Netflix vs. Blockbuster TOTAL ACCESS

Is anyone here currently using Blockbuster TOTAL ACCESS?

I'm sure there are several Netflix users here, of which I am one.

If anyone is unfamiliar with BBTA, it's almost the exact same as Netflix BUT with the huge advantage of being able to return your just watched movie to any BB store & exchange it for a new one in lieu of waiting several days or a week to get a new movie through the mail.

I was thinking of switching...Netflix keeps screwing me over by sending me movies from 17 states away:mad: ...4 times last month they sent me a movie from SC or CA:mad: ....I find it hard to beleive that Austin is the only shipping center in TX.

So since we're only on the 1 @ time plan - yippee we got all of 4 movies last month :(

I think with BBTA you can return and exchange whenever you want to, no limits or penalties?
Plus it's the same $ as Netflix

    thoughts, comments, suggestions? :)

I go with BB...I live in SC, and the local distribution here is charlotte, netflix is Greensboro...so, not only am I paying less, getting more movies, but I also get them faster. Plus BB sends me a coupon every month to get a movie for free at the store.

right, I think I could get twice as well without too much trouble.
what kind of flicks are you only able to get @ NF...like older ones? in store locations, BB or otherwise always - they have quite a limited selection of movies that are > a year old.

faster indeed. I think all things considered, if everything went perfectly, the most I could get in a week with NF is 3...which might be ok if it weren't for the fact that I have 40 movies in my que!!! (1/2 of which being TV series discs ;))

I use netflix, but have been meaning to look into Block Buster. Netflix is real fast for me. If I mail the movies back on a Monday I have some in my mailbox on wednesday. I get 3 movies at a time and return them twice a week. Thats about 24 movies a week for $18.

If I go to the store I forget to return them and 2 movies end up costing me that.

If you are on the 3 @ a time plan I think you wouldn't notice/mind the huge lags I am experiencing of late with my one at a time...

but yeah, BB wouldn't have to try and compete in the 1st place if they didn't charge $7:rolleyes: for a new release!!!

That happened to me with Netflix

I ordered the 3 at a time plan, then Was watching three movies at nite, then sending them back right away , and then like a month later....All of a sudden my movies weren't near me anymore........:(

So....I canceled and then signed back up...maybe that will change

'convenient' how that happens huh

and of course their "system" has no method of knowing where the outbound movie will come from....which I think is BS

I emailed them about it...just a friendly inquiry and they said yeah, you're out of luck....but we'll give you an extra movie for the trouble (which they never did)...

    so they don't know?
    please.
so do they just spin the outbound shipping wheel...

let's see how he likes "Cars" coming from Alaska!!!

I'm with Netflix but looking into Blockbuster deal. When I lived in another state all I had to wait was 2 days to get new movies shipped in. In my new state I have to wait more like 5 days. Blockbuster looks more and more better at this point.

holy mutha! I thought I was getting reamed if it took over 2 days but I can't imagine having to wait an entire week!!!

I hear you...amazing how some people treat DVD's
HEY!!!! They are not drink coasters or car floormats!!!!!

you're exactly right...not going to find a lot of obscure type stuff @ BB

Well so much for BBTA being better than Netflix.

    Time line:

I exchanged a movie last week on Tuesday, I like being able to go get a new movie right away, that's pretty slick.

BUT, it took until FRIDAY? For them to receive the movie at the shipping facility??? Even if I concede that the movie wasn't dropped into the mail until Wed. you're telling me it takes 2 days to get to San Antonio (90 miles south of Austin)???

Wait, should I be mad at BB or USPS??

Anyway, another 2 days pass, I have yet to be notified when my next movie will ship AND of course it'll take another 2 or 3 days before I get it.

I love having to wait 10 (business) days for a new movie...

WTFrig did I switch from Netflix I am asking myself now!!!

Meanwhile customer "service" is giving me the run around...well at least they are par with Netflix in that dept.

Y, I probably will after I finally get the new movie 17 days from now

Heck, I'd probably stop bitching if they tossed me a free rental.

One thing I noticed about Netflix too. If I send them movies on Friday, they'd actually receive it Sat. and then send the new one on Monday (all the while telling you early in the am of their progress) whereas BB doesn't budge an inch...they received the movie on Friday and then didn't ship a new one on Monday...that irritates me.

especially since the transit time is 4+ days whereas Netflix was < = 2.

Just when I was really starting to love Blockbuster's Total Access...they've decided to nearly double the price of my existing plan :mad:

    From $9.99 to $16.99 :mad::mad:

Is it still a good deal based on the number of movies I am currently getting? Probably, but it's the principle of the thing!!

So now I have to make a choice...shell out more $$, go with an inferior but cheaper plan or make the switch back to Netflix...either way I am ANGRY!

yeah thanks, I noticed that in the NF package selection

Bebicul mention the price (HI)jack last month but it never occurred to me since I swear to God that I never got an email telling me that they were raising their rates yet again.

I thought it was just for him since he uses the 3 @ a time plan.

anyway the sick/sad STUPID thing is that for all of an extra $1 more than what I am paying now for BBTA (1 @ a time, unlimited in store sexchange) - I could get 4 @ a time through NF!!:rolleyes:

BBT&A is a total joke IMO

BB exces would make excellent oil exces....feel like raising the price today? yeah? by $12 a barrel (or movie subscription plan). Sounds good, sca-REW the consumer.
