Pay Per Play, is the new platform with good potential and is set to rock the internet but will it become as big as PPC and does it have the potential to take a big slice of the PPC & CPM market? For those that are unfamiliar with Pay Per Play It will be interesting to hear what internet marketers and site owners / developers have to say about this subject.

Don't know, they'll launch Paid advertising in Feb 2008!
I'll wait right now, anyways so far it's looking good, just for as little as 5 secs advertising, we'll get paid.

I definitely think its too early to tell. And lots of people still don't like video ads and random playing so it could be touchy to integrate into all niches.

Does anyone even know roughly how much you will be paid per play? it could be low, you never know. It sounds way too good to be true and it probably is...

As i remember, when readed their pages, they mentioned (as a sample) 2.8 cent per play, and mentioned that it is still low paid ad. ($28cpm  )

But only time will show. It is easy to talk about virtual samples. Will see how it will work in process

It sucks and it will fail.

Why? Well simply because, users will be put off by hearing the ads and not visit the sites using them therefore people will stop using them to attract visitors back.

Another factor is that, you won't see majorly large sites online using them either, because, they won't carry the risk of loosing traffic which is part of the core of their business.

I emailed Larry Host a couple of weeks ago as one of my prospects had a ton of questions that I couldn't fully answer, one of them being about the CPM.

    Here's what he replied:

    Frank

I have embedded my answers between the questions.

    Larry Host,
    CTOVoice2Page.comV2P Communications, Inc.
    858-200-2222 Office
    858-334-9355 Cell

Please help me answer the following questions from one of my prospects.
    > This one is big
    >> I need a really quick response.
    >> Thanks, Frank

    >You say that the ads will be related to the content of the page. How do you accomplish this? I ask because most of our pages require a cookie which makes it difficult for most systems to spider our pages. If you have some kind of technical document I could review, that would be helpful.

    *******************
We have spent several years perfecting the delivery of audio to listeners of all varieties. Our engines determine a full demographic profile on approximately 80% of all listeners, in real time, without cookies. On websites that we cannot accurately spider, we request keywords, geographic areas and more from the webmaster before the site is certified.
    *******************

    > What kind of CPMs are we talking about? What are your publishers currently seeing?

    *******************
Our initial target CPM is $14 but the actual rate sheets will be determined by our audit results. We have joined BPA Worldwide and are using their audit services as they are the ones the major ad agancies respect.
    *******************

    >Are there restrictions on the type of page that carry the ads? Would it be acceptable to have the ads play on our login page, for example?

    *******************
We will reject porn, pharmacy, get-rich-quick, political, stock and sportspick, spam and other sites that advertiser may deem inappropriate.
    *******************

    >How much inventory would you need to do an effective test?

    *******************
We currently are being audited with an inventory in excess of a quarter BILLION ad slots per month spread across eleven million websites.
    *******************

BTW, my own efforts are really begining to pay off, at least on paper. I've had a lot of sign ups including some sites drawing 400 - 500K visitors per month. So, obviously looking forward to see what Feb will bring.

    I don't think so

or turn off there speakers, or put up with the couple of seconds of audio. Tell me do people stop watching a tv show if it has ads? No they flick to another show inbetween until the ads finish, remember it is only a few seconds of audio no big deal really.

    Disagree.

Looking good! I hope those cpm figures are about right, will be nice to make some high cpm's :)
