Article submission and fuckin copycats

People said article submission is one of the ways to get back links. However, I see that many of my articles (all are uniques, because I rewrite them myself) have been duplicated by some people. I realized this when I checked my back links in Google Webmaster Tools. I noticed that my back links from articlesbase.com (and also other article directories) are not as many as I expected. Then I tried to find out through copyscape about my articles. I've found that few people duplicated my contents. Is this the reason why I never see any back links from that article (which has been duplicated by others)? This is very annoying to me because they were just duplicated my content and strangely I never see any of my back links from those duplicated articles. So what to do?

Yes exactly the article submission is one of the ways to get back links. As far as I think it can not be the reason to get your back links as you expect. You should try to submit another way like directories and blog submissions. So you do not need to worry. Just try it.

Yeah, people rip them all the time, especially for scraper sites. You have to be expecting it when you submit them, but its decent for backlinks.

How to be smart? What do you mean?

Yeah, I expect that but what can I do about it?

One more, I ever read several times about duplicate content. I thought we shouldn't be afraid of dupe because ezine (and few other article directories) have stronger image in Google's eye than those scrappy sites so in the end it would be our articles which get better value. However, now I think this theory is wrong. My articles all are uniques and I submitted them to famous article directories only. But still, I do not get all the back links. Why is that? Can someone explain it to me? If there is no solution for this, then why people are still submitting articles?

copy and paste your article in articlechecker.com to see which all are the lines that have been duplicated. Go to their sites and send an email warning to the webmasters. Wait for some time for replies. If no replies then sue them

Nothing you can do about it, just keep making articles and love with it or build links another way. :(

Wow...then I will build links another way...at least, my article won't be duplicated..

@redvirus: of course manually. In copyscape, the copycats were duplicated 100% of my article, not only 50% the same. 100%, got that?

Yes, I have done that but it won't stop them to copy articles. This is not about me, this is about those article directories. Whether it's you or me, whoever submit the new and unique article to ezine or other article directories, those crappy sites will duplicate. That's it.

Write good articles and stick them on your own site, get a few good backlinks to it by other means and it will benefit you 100 times more than submitting them to article directories will ever do.

I have been saying this for a long time, but nobody listens... But hey that's ok i own a few article directories myself so i will gladly take your content and give you a couple of crummy PR0 backlinks and 0.3% of the traffic i pull in from your article in return.

Years ago before Google tightened it's duplicate reins article publication was a fairly viable means of generating backlinks, but now it's really scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of link quality.

Yes, you are right. I will leave article submission start from now, because it's not good anymore for back links. It will be better for me if I just add all the articles to my website.

I noticed the same thing first time i did article submission, like a few weeks ago. I was like "how dare these morons just copy my articles word to word" and not give me credit for it?". I then had two options: First was not to do any article submission and use the articles on my own site but not receive any backlinks from the article directories or second submit to article directories get a few backlinks, be happy with it, let the morons copy and not bother with them. Actually there was a third option as well, email the morons and warn them and sue them after but why should i have to bother with the hassle eh?

I suppose getting unique content on your site will benefit you more in the long term than those PR0 backlinks? Anybody with a different opinion here?

Yeah, it happens but in some of the cases I've noticed my articles appeared on other websites that actually bothered to give me a backlink in return. I'm not sure what these websites gather from 100% copying and pasting the article I wrote (just automated content I guess?)

Sweetfunny, what do you mean articles aren't good for bringing you backlinks anymore? Aren't they as good as always, IF you submit a unique one per article directory (and only the renowned ones such as ezinearticles?).
If people copy them, I'm sure Google would have already indexed yours first, and not only that but if yours is submitted to a higher PR website than the copycat submits it to, it will still get the 'unique' and 'first' vote.

This is a common myth, whoever gets indexed first has nothing what so ever to do with who appears highest in Google.

Sure? Hmm ok let's assume that, but wouldn't the other sites that get indexed afterwards be flagged as "duplicate" content?

And even so, if a lower PR site copies an article from a higher PR site, the higher PR one will have the 'authority' and the other will be considered as the 'copy' - I actually remember reading this on WF.

Copycats are too common there is really not much that can be done about that, I had even people copy my adverts word by word and forgetting to change the url. Quite sickening, I guess for some, English is not their first language and they are trying to make a fast buck, but sometimes it makes them look so silly. BTW one thing about this forum is it is an extremely polite forum, one simple post can be joined by dozens of unrelated members saying thank you to you.......

I agree, it is not a great way to make back links. There is way too many article directories that come and go and many have no PR at all. They are just set up to make quick money off ads. Most people who take you article just deletes the back link or rewrites your content a bit. There is no way to do much about it. There is no enforcement that they have to keep the back link, it is a honor system and if they do not do it, you could sue. However, you need some good money to sue and you need to be in the same area as the person who stole it.

If you have good quality articles, it is best to keep them on your own site. There are many other ways to build links besides giving away your articles. JMO

Duplicate content being flagged is another myth. There is millions of sites with duplicate content on the net. The sites that are being flagged are the sites that only have duplicate content. If you put a few original articles on the site. It will not be flagged for the duplicate content that is includes.

Well who's indexed first has no bearing on nothing, i proved this to someone in the Google section who didn't believe me. So they offered to let me copy their 8 month old PR3 page and source code and i promptly outanked them.

Actually my copy went PR4 last update and PR5 this update lol.

Anyhow, yes Pagerank is a large determination on who ranks highest but it's not always the case.

Example, my "SERP Domination 4785 Page 1 Rankings in 14 days" thread i originally posted here on DP on December 28th. I then reposted it on iDomainSite on the 8th January. Well see the results for yourself:

    SERP DOMINATION - 4785 Page 1 Rankings
SERP DOMINATION - 4785 Page 1 Rankings in 14 days
what is a long tail serp

As you can see, DP was indexed first and has a much higher PR but iDomainSite has smoked DP in the SERP's.

No, it is not. If Google indexed my article first, then I would find my back link in Google webmaster tool. I am talking about my three months old article. I couldn't find that article on Google which mean it is flagged as a dupe. Darn it! It seems article submission is just a waste of time.
