Google PageRank - When Will All This Buzz End?

Discussion in 'Google' started by smallfishbigmoney, Jan 15, 2008.

Okay...I am just about fed up with all of this PR talk,
If someone can answer these questions I will give them a medal (figuratively)....of course

--> Is there a Google PR update in progress?

--> Will I eventually get my Page Rank back?

--> How long will it take for Google to finish the update?

Answer away and feel free to convey your frustrations at
the countless PR posts and annoying buzz.

    Thanks
    Fabien

It is going on ATM, and Google themselves have finished the update, although it may take a little time for it to show on your Google Toolbar :D

    That isn't quite true...

I have 1039 backlinks (including PR5's and .edu) and no PR...

It can take a few weeks after the update started for it to get refreshed accross all datacenters...

did you buy a lot of links to suddenly loose your pr? Do you still have good rankings? B/c if you have good rankings then don't worry about pr.

Yeah I think if your site is one that lost pagerank during that infamous update last year, my impression is that the dust has already settled on that particular update, and you are where you are, and have to build more backlinks to get your PR back up.

i heard that they now dont like it if you have sponsors or links for seale on your site - but ironocally they dont if you have adsence ads on your site - same thing isnt it except that they get most of that money

Currently there is a pr update going on for new site in the early stages of Jan 2008 and the rest of the pr will happen in late Jan 2008. The last pr was in late October 2007. I have experience several increases in pr on new sites and one exception where i got my pr back on a pr 5 site that lost it on the last pr update to a pr 1. So i am not back to were i was. The rest of my domains have now gotten there new pr.

After the last PR update, I'm starting to realize that it's pure BS. JohnChow.com and ProBlogger.net even got dropped to a 3 for a period of time.

--> Is there a Google PR update in progress?

Yes ! Since 3-6 days ago!

--> Will I eventually get my Page Rank back?

YES ! Remove paid links / TLA / PPP from your site - and write a nice email to Google. It worked for quite a few people.

--> How long will it take for Google to finish the update?

No one will know. Historically a few weeks from the start - but when is the real start! Anyway, PR is always changing

Well the algorithm changes due to the search engine new indexing criteria and yes from time to time sites loose there pr only to regain it later. All together the more important part to me is that i rank higher in the search visibility and not so much the pr. Its nice to see the pr bar increase but that alone will not bring in the customers to your door.

Its cool stuff playing these google games and at times time consuming exploiding the next medium.

it's confusing really what google's criteria are in giving those page ranks. for a site that's only a month old, i was given a PR4. i really don't know what i did right.

Same some weak blogspot blogs of myn got PR4. But my strong sites got PR2. It confuses me.

But saying that google are twitching with page rank as we speak. And the next update is a couple of weeks away. Which i expect since the last PR update took so long.

Don't worry about pr to much just continue to add content and build back links slowly.
