    1. Complain to his host
    2. Complain to his ISP (though I don't think this is going to do much)
    3. Such people are scum...

Can't you sue him for intellectual property's infringement? If you are the bearer of the original creator, We had a issue like this with my bands artwork and cd. I am new to web designs so i am uncertain of this. But I can assure you this would not happen with a big company they'd sue the pants off of the guy that stole the images or copied the site.

    Correct.

Complain to his host, and registrar first. They should pull his site, or close his account.

Romanians are quickly becoming a problem. Another country where the IP laws are a joke. Writing sites with original content has become worthless because it can be stolen so easily and your work made worthless. You have little recourse as well. You will never be monetarily compensated and the work it takes to get the site banned is barely worth it. I feel for you bro...seriously I do but facts are hard to face.

It appears their site is now indexed in Google. I suggest you send them a notice to have it deindexed.

    Goodluck.

Id suggest you forget about it. People will always steal good content. If your site was indexed first which i assume happened then this site has duplicate content so will never get high in the search engines.

Its happened to me and there is nothing much you can do.

Hard to say what to do. If they're in North America, you maybe able to talk to a lawyer to send out a formal legal threat(You know the ones where they have a Sheriff hand deliver it to the person), that maybe enough to scare them.

    Tough thing though.

Looks like they are hosted with a company from Toronto.

    whois.domaintools.com/pluto.ro

this pluto.ro site leads to another site... with a contact form here:
    xhost.ro/classifier/contact.php?view=views/contact.xsl&

Which happens to have an English version... and a special abuse dept.

Yeah well the whois isn't working because it is a sub domain. The website is hosted on pluto.ro. I guess the only way to do anything is to threaten the person through emails of legal action. Although that might not be that useful if the person does not know english. You could also notify search engines such as Google about the issue although again I do not know how much that will help. And you could try to contact pluto.ro maybe they have people on their staff who know English. But agian that is unlikely to do much because it seems like a free service and they probably do not care if someone copied another person's website so long as they get customers. But tyring these things couldn't hurt. And if nothing works then the best thing to do would be to ignore them.

Contact Google Adsense. Take screenshots of his site, show them how he copied you and proof. If you can get him banned off Adsense, he won't be able to profit off you other any other sites he steals using Google any more.

I've made a complaint to the host. Hopfully they fry that punk. I have a real problem with free passes in life. I definatly didn't get any.

Thank. The design took a lot of effort on my half considering that I'm not the best at working with dreamweaver.
Yes, I do get a lot of hits. I also run on about 40 other keywords. The sites are really competitive though, becuase they are all .gov's and .edu's. Right now I'm fighting for "dinosaurs".

Oh yeah. Where can I mention this to google. Does anyone know the url? I've never reported anyone before.

How did you go? I just had someone in the UK totally rip off my sites. I saw they were using an affiliate company and I contacted them, this seemed to work and the site was pulled down in under 24 hours.

I use copyscape to monitor copies and every week or 2 there are new sites out there - people are crazy! I find it the worst in the US. As when you send these people friendly emails they never reply :(

I have to pay a lawyer $450 USD to get the site shut down and I gain nothing.. the system doesn't work!!

I am going to try contacting the hosting companies now - maybe thats the way...

Going to lawyer is pointless for minor issues. I can share with you my experience, long time ago I did went to a lawyer, guess what? The lawyer do not know what is a web site, what is a server etc, so I end up having to give him lessons on what is what and paying him for the lessons!

No point totally, go to hosting company, if hosting company ignores, go upstream to the ISP and so on. Never a lawyer unless it involves huge sums of money.

    Congrats dude :)

Site now reads... in RO and English:
    Cont Suspendat / Account suspend!

I like that idea of hitting them where it would hurt the most... You can report sites straight to google by clicking on that "Ads by Google" image on the banner. Then on the following page, click the link at the bottom that reads,
"Send Google your thoughts on the site or the ads you just saw"

They rarely do change all the info..I have one guy that stole content and the "bookmark me" is still my domain. I did everything people suggest short of sue, but even if you try to sue for intellectual property, it has to be evaluated for what it is worth.

If their site OR your site isn't worth that much, intellectual property won't be and in best case scenario you get a court order for them to take down their site. Which means they change hosting providers and domains and hope you dont find them again!

I have had to do this myself and it sucks and that is suck it up and put up a webpage that states that these people stole your content and don't support them..on top of everything else you give them a backlink ^&%!$!

If lawyers weren't so expensive...maybe find a pro bono atty looking to build their resume.
