    Hey all,

New site. I have tried to implement a few thoughts I found on here about adsense placement. Would you look at it and give me any advice? I would really appreciate it.

Just asking about adsense please. Not design (my little attempt to stop the bashing lol).

    url is: http://www.cajuncrawfishpie.com

    Thanks guys!!

The first thing I'd do is bump up the sidebar unit so that is it within your navigation, not below it. Also, consider changing it to a square unit or something smaller.

For all the other pages, try adding the square unit and having the text wrap around it.

    Thank you!

So on the home page, move the adsense on the left to the top, correct?

I would make the border same as the background for the leaderboard in the home page could increase ctr. :D

check out the adsense heatmap https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=17954

I would agree with moving your box of ads on the left towards the top (see heatmap)....keep in mind that ads "above the fold" perform better. I also agree with the poster that said to remove the border from around your ads.

In the end, it is just a matter of trial and error. Try one set up for a week or two, track the performance, then try another, etc until you find the one that works best for your site.

Thanks guys! It just seems to go against my gut to make the border blend. Weird. Will do it though.

Will move ads on left up.

OK guys. I fixed the border to make it blend. I moved the ad on the left up. I'm still debating the ad size (box) in the middle. Looks better?

I think the skyscraper on the left should be aligned to the left edge of the page under the navigation and then you can reduce the width of that red column.

It's that size because I will be adding some affiliate ads in the future, and I need the space.

It should be completely to the left? Not centered?

    Thank you!!!!

I think it looks better and will hopefully convert better too. One consideration is user friendliness vs. absolute conversions. I think that if you move the ads on the left navigation to where you have the "hot recipes" you will get an even better click thru rate, but you may irk some of your readers, so it is up to you.

One option though is to use a small square ad in that spot, and the "hot recipes" could be placed directly below that. I think the ad in the center of the page, in the content is fine. Be sure to use the adsense channels to track the progress of any changes you make. Good luck.

Maybe you should have a column on each side of the site, and put a skyscraper in the right side one, it'd be right at the top, and right by the scrollbar, some say it's a good placement by the scrollbar...color that column gray like the scrollbar too. Then your red nav bar can be as long as it needs to, it won't affect the placement of the skyscraper.

Know what's funny? I wasn't excited about doing the changes you all mentioned, but I really like it a lot better now. Funny. It just looks better for some reason.

I was thinking the same thing about moving the left one up above hot recipes. I may experiment with that after a few weeks.

DBmasters---- I was thinking about another column on the right. Thanks for the thoughts!!!

    Thanks all!!!
