I've had a great experience with Dotable. They're a smaller company then most of the other hosting companies mentioned in this thread but that's what I like about them. Their support is ace, prompt, helpful and friendly. No over selling and loading up their servers to make a quick buck. Through the years I've gone through my share of hosting companies and this one is by far the best. No hassle hosting and friendly service.
For the last 10 years I went through more than 15 companies . Most of them are good as long as you dont have traffic or you dont spam. If you really try to become Myspace or Youtube , your problems will start. Hosting want your money at the end of the month , that's it. They all promise everything the first day. Spamming could be posting in a wrong forum , if the owner send an email to the hosting company , your site will be gone for few days. Check in some forums which they review only about hosting companies, like hostingforum , you will have a better idea.
I've never had any troubles with host gator. They're always helpful if I have a problem and I haven't crashed a server or anything like that. Highly recommended.
I finally decided on GoDaddy and a VPS. I know there could be problems with any webhost, but I'm hoping to avoid certain problems that I've encounted with Lunar Pages (avoid like the plague, in my opinion). I think you get what you paid for in many instances. I may be paying a little more, but hopefully...
