Does PR increase also increase traffic?

Does PR increase also increase the traffic? My site gained PR, but traffic actually went down...what's the use of the PR going up, then?

 

in my case more back links more traffic. PR as far as I can see plays no role as long as your site is SE friendly and you have a lot of unique content to offer

a high PR doesn't mean high traffic. Traffic will be based on how you do site promotion and how you choose well your link partners.

 

the PR increase you see is only an update so you can see a number for the public to see. As you build more links to your website your site will gain rankings while you do that. It would be silly to have to wait for months and months to jump a few places in the SERPs.

 

But will it give a boost to your other pages in the SERPs? Not sure, but if PR increase doesn't do anything, then why so much emphasis on it?

As I see a lot of emphasis on PR, but isn't the bottom line - more traffic? Got a site I did not do much work on, yet PR increased....but traffic decreased somewhat actually.

 

From my expierience PR does nothing, why the emphasis? Because people think that it does, therefore directories selling links make a lot of money because everyone wants their link on a directory with high PR, because they THINK it means something. Truthfull, it does nothing.

If you own a directory and are selling links, PR is important, however Google has been known to penalize those selling links and buying links, so its really a lose lose situation

 

It doesnt always increase traffic.
I have a PR 4 now and my traffic
hasn't drastically increased.

No PR doesnt effect traffic, it may or may not effect SERP, and if your SERP is near the top than you will get traffic. But you dont need a high PR to be on the front page either, so over all PR is rather worthless

 

PR only means that by google standards you have, "good" quality links going to your site. If you have been working at link building and your pr goes up it means you did a good job. Generally higher pr means you rank higher in search engines so indirectly it does mean more traffic. Also remember that pr is for single pages not the entire site. So your main page might rank pr 5 and rank high in search engines but all your articles will be pr 0 and won't rank high.

 

But is it a fact that pr effects SERP?

 

That's the main question

Because good serps = traffic.

But does good PR = good serp?

If not, what's the point of PR?

P.S: I've seen PR 7 sites having a price point of $xx,xxx just because they are PR 7.... Me thinks PR is just blown way out of proportion.

 

I agree. I honestly think PR is worthless, except to those selling links to those that dont know its worthless

 

Increase in PR doesn't mean your traffic would increase. Backlinks and better SE ranking is the main source to increase traffic.

 

high Pr sites only have more traffic because they have more backlinks. those backlinks just happen to give PR juice to the site increasing the overall PR.

Its a bit of a vicious circle though cos if you do link exchanges people don't want to exchange with low PR sites.

Higher PR help you just to sell links, or even website for higher price.
But you will not get more traffic just because higher PR!

 

PR is one of the factors for your SERPs.
So in general higher PR means more traffic.
