rofl, hostgator deleted my account

because I was using 20gb per day

but aw@them waiting until the end of my "contract"

 

I get my hostgator accounts suspended frequently for using too much cpu.
I think they put about 200 accounts per server on shared plans

 

20gb bandwidth, with what site?

 

the main bandwidth eater was actually a private forum site (about 100 uniques daily), I guess it was peoples pictures being downloaded that ate it up

&& you get your account unsuspended? isn't it better to just move to a VPS or something?

 

You should have got your members to upload offsite.

 

oh no, it wasn't images in the forums
it was avatars / the users actual pictures

 

yeah, I have a few vps's and dedicated servers as well. It's a pain to manage them all. I used to have a dedicated server from hostgator too, but canceled it recently

 

hope you find a better solution soon, from what i have heard hostgator usually takes care of their customers.

 

Must be an active forum then, I set rules on image sizes and kb.

 

hostgator is/was usually flawless for me
but it's so hard to even get a backup from them (inc database backups)
I'm still trying, but not getting anything

 

Hey...your sig link suggests that you were hosting proxy sites on hostgator, which is against their TOS! Is this the reason they suspended your account?

I hate businesses that offer these glamorous packages, but they'll cut you off for other reasons. Basically you could have a 1000gb of bandwidth a month, but you'll never have the chance to use it because they'll suspend your site for other reasons.

 

did they give you any warning before disabling your account?

I have an account with them as well.. the 7.95 one.. no reason to pay for a dedi until things get going.
