Yeah, I wouldn't recommend Amazon either. I pretty much had the same experience than monty2002. Only it was 3+ months.
I've a site with associate-o-matic & looking for alternative. The domain name is related to shopping mall. What other good program do u think i should change to? Looking for good white-label program.
Just as a follow up to this post, a few of you guys weren't really feeling the amazon associates program anymore, but just so you know, Amazon has since changed they're payments to be monthly versus quarterly. Also, I think you can make some pretty decent commission depending on the items you are trying to sell. Obviously a book or dvd are low priced items to begin with, so you really wouldn't make so much, but if you targeted big ticket items like HD TV's, Projectors, Tractors (yeah, they sell tractors too), then your commission per item would be significantly higher. Happy Selling! PuReWebDev
Amazon seems to work well together with good content-based sites, especially those providing product information. For those complaining they never made any money, I suspect you are looking for some get-rich-quick scheme. Well, Amazon isn't that, but there are people making big money from it...
Why would anyone want to buy tractors online? Would u buy TV online also? Don't u like to see & touch the item before buying?
I always wondered about that! But I guess if someone knows what product they are looking for, then they are confident about buying it online. I mean, I spent 1000 EUR on a laptop recently - I had never seen it in real life! But I read all the reviews, knew which specs I needed and narrowed it down to a particular model... Now buying big-ticket second-hand stuff through eBay etc.! THAT I can't figure out!
I think markowe just answered this, but I wanted to add that online shopping provides the convenience of purchasing from anywhere with internet access. For me, seeing and touching are great for clothing, but if it's brand new and I receive the product I want the way it's advertised, then I don't necessarily have a desire to feel or touch it. I'm finding more and more that even people with the desire to touch and feel might go to the local store to do that, and still order it on the web for the best price. thanks, PuReWebDev
I think a lot of people go into shops, look at the items, then go home and buy them online for less. Or maybe that's just me.
