This one took me a little over an hour, so i hope you like it. i used the mini pixel icons, which allow you to use 10 without a backlink, more than 10 with a backlink or by purchasing the license. And without further ado, here it is: http://www.nickzakharyan.com/designs/healthscape/healthscape-1.jpg The template makes a wide range use of ajax/dom type of scripting. I designed it so taht when someone uses the search, the top bar, right under the search (Blue one) expanded, with the search results (live results) though it doesn't necessarily have to be that way. The login part does the same thing that the digg.com login thign does. If you click on it, it will expand (probabyl move back, exposing a field for username and password) or it could just lead to a page on it's own. It depends on how you want that coded. Just giving you a few ideas on how i envisioned it when designing. I know there aren't going to be that many categories either. I've designed it so that when a category is clicked, it moves to the side, a small description shows up under it, and on the other side, there will be items displayed from that category. I'd really like your feedback on this. Thanks, Nick
Thanks for the feedback. I'll submit a different design and/or updated design of the current entry by Wednesday.

Hi guys, thanks for the entries so far, there's some really good ones coming through. Rather than giving feedback on each and every one I thought I'd select the best three so far and comment on what is good and bad about them so you can all get an idea of what does and doesn't work. http://memvis.com/dp/healthscape/ I reall like this one, the layout and navigation is good, I like the bold colour scheme, though it could do with a little brightening up, more icons/detail etc The logo is okay, though I'm not quite sure what the background image is in the header Lovely design though, really pays attention to the web 2.0 concepts http://www.digital-view-web.co.uk/healthscap44544e.jpg Again I like the colour scheme, though I think the navigation could be improved - possibly instead of the text on the left side. I'd like to see more icons/gradients used - though still looking good. http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc37/neme1212/mattuk.png I like the clarity of this design, nice layout and navigation, though I'm a little unsure of the colour scheme.
Thanks for feedback Matt, of course more detail can/will be added. The header graphic was cos I kept thinking of like scape as in view, so I was using that at first but can obviously replace it with anything else. Will have a play around, see what I can do. I think we still have a week left right? Cheers!
Well, since my design isn't in the top 3, I guess I will stop working on this. No point.. heh wasted 8 hours but w/e. Good luck guys
No worries, I was just wondering what it was Yep, there's a week left now, hopefully that'll be enough time for everyone?
another try, image taken from http://www.sxc.hu/ bare skeleton, but should i continue working on it ? please comment.
Here is a redesign that pertains to some of the thigns that you've pointed out in the 3 designs. I hope you like it. http://www.nickzakharyan.com/designs/healthscape/healthscape-2.jpg Feedback very much appreciated. Regards, Nick
Just a reminder - this contest ends on Monday at midday UK time Still plenty of time to get a design together though
This took me like 5 hours to make. This is my second proper design and I'm only 13 so don't be too harsh. Lol. It's been really fun to experiment with my graphical skills, so even if you don't use it, it'll have helped me to develop my graphic skills. ~Ryan
