What Directory gets the best returns?

I currently run a fairly decent directory, which gets a standard amount of paid submissions per month.

I am looking to submit my directory and buy some links.

Is it worth submitting my directory to alivedirectory and any other high traffic directories. At a cost of $80 per year, is it worth submitting to these directories and would it result in more people paying for listings on my directory.

What would be the best place to buy links from for my directory to have a decent return in paid submissions??

It would be good to hear from established directory owners.

I have a nice unique bid style directory that is good value, you can get home page exposure for the minimum review amount in many categories, TopUrlSearch.com

    thanks

Personally... instead of paying $80 to have it on ONE site, I would rather pay $50 to have mine listed on 1500 directories. Or better yet, get a directory submitter tool for free and get it listed on 2 k plus categories... whenever you feel like it.

Its tricky though... somtimes quality superceeds quantity.

    :) Good luck!

I have already paid to get my site submitted to 800 or so directories but it can take many months to actually get listed in those directories.

So where do you think would be the best place to pay for advertising on a site, and is it worth it to be submitted in the current most popular directories.

Yes $80 is very expensive for 1 year, but if it resulted in more paid links for my directory I would do it.

Look back through the last week or so, there is a post regarding most popular directories based on visitors, it's not the only option but if i was looking at placing some ads, it would be a place to start.

will try and find the link for you but sure zyas has put it together.

Well worth it. Paid directories are great for SEO efforts and marketing. I have a PR4 directory with standard review only $9.95

Yikes! I am not sure I want to pay $300 for a yearly listing on those 2 sites, that seems very expensive.

I've noticed both www.romow.com and www.authoritydirectory.com come up in niche searches I've done, so that indicates to me that they're strong. I think there's been a couple others that I don't remember right now, and of course it depends on what niche you're in (different ones will show up for different terms - and not sure if you're referring to a general directory or not), but those two might be worth a looky-loo. Authority Directory's review fee is peanuts, too, but annual.

I would also think a link or sponsored link on the web directory list would boost submissions (recent DP thread).
