Because I do not agree with his racist opinions.. In principle, I like some of the things Ron Paul stands for. But given my background, family and friends, I cannot in good conscience support someone with racist views.

    Sorry, that is just me...

Are you calling Ron Paul a racist? Can you provide the evidence that backs up your claim? And I'm not talking about your buddy Gtech's links here.

My favorite Ron Paul back peddling quotes on the subject:

So which is it Ron, are you a Democrat, Republican or a Libertarian? You are running as a Republican, but you are saying you are a Libertarian? Make up your mind..

Looks to me like the only thing Ron Paul is incapable of doing is telling the truth...

A libertarian can be a Democrat or Republican. Small "L" libertarianism is a philosophy, Big "L" Libertarianism denotes a party affiliation.

Jefferson was a Democrat IIRC, and he was libertarian. He was big on both civil and economic liberty. So were Madison, Washington and Franklin.

A good quote for our day,
The Republican party has a strong tradition of libertarianism.

Well, he is a libertarian. So if you don't like small government, and you don't like individual freedom and responsibility, then you wouldn't like libertarianism.

If you like fiscal conservatism, if you like civil liberty and you like low or no taxes, then you would be an old right Republican, most of which were libertarians.

If he is a Libertarian, then why is he running as a Republican? If he is a Libertarian, why is he crying when he is not invited to a Republican debate?

Why is he not coming clean about his party affiliation and off colour views on race?

For someone that is for responsibility, he is not doing a very good job of owning up to what he is...

It is quite evident that even Ron Paul supporters do not know what Ron Paul is..
    Don't worry...
I don't think even Ron Paul knows what he is.

Well, the good news for me personally is that I just called the company I buy gold and silver from, and I just learned that I've earned a huge return on the silver and gold I've purchased in the last five months. It sure pays to know what is going on with the economy. :)

Mia you do know that there is such a thing as Libertarian Republicans do you not?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_Republican

It's simply a term to zero more closely into someones actual stances, still a republican but based on the libertarian stances above all else.

This would also define me IMO, I normally vote republican, I however base my decisions on liberty and the constitution above most anything.

Lets get back to the facts:

    1. US Dollar lost 50% of its value since 2001.
    2. Current US Government liabilities equivalent to over $400,000 per US household

    Whats going to happen?

The Chinese and Arabs already are ready to swoop in and start buying up American assets. Foreign entities are already buying record levels of commercial US real estate. Since the US dollar tanked they're effectively buying these assets at half price.

    What happens when default occurs?

It will probably be the Asian economies that bail out the US.

Civil unrest throughout Argentina ensued, forcing the resignation of four presidents within the space of barely two weeks -- thus allowing an alliance of Peronist politicians to take control.

Finally, the newly installed government of President Eduardo Duhalde announced the devaluation of the Argentine peso by nearly 30 percent on January 7, 2002 -- just days after the country formally entered into default on its $141 billion foreign debt. "We are in collapse. Argentina is bankrupt," the government's economy minister Jorge Remes Lenicov declared.

By mid--2002 the peso had lost 73 percent of its former fictitious "utopian" value. The Argentinos came back to reality earth.

Argentina got more than three-quarters of its bondholders to agree to take 30 cents on the dollar, thus ending its default crisis that began in December 2001, when it stopped payments on $100 billion in debt - a record bankruptcy. Thirty cents is the worst deal yet offered by a major state in default, as the Russians at least offered 50 cents when they crashed in the late 1990s.

These are the types of scenarios that could pan out.

I explained SMALL L and BIG L Libertarianism to you already in this thread. Do I need to quote that for you?

He's been a Republican since 1974, and in office as a Republican since 1976.

His most off color view on race is that he wants to pardon thousands of minorities who have been incarcerated for non-violent drug crimes when he gets into office. This has a lot of paranoid white people worried, that they may see more blacks and hispanics every day. ;)

Well, he's been pretty consistent in office for 20 years. Maybe you just can't understand a politician who fights for smaller government, lower taxes, no entitlements and cutting spending.

I have and those same numbers and graphs are all generated from one major source which I have cited over and over again, the US Department of the Treasury.

The three key problems which I have mentioned time and time again are the result of the problems outlined in this thread by me time and time again.. Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security..

All other expenses either remain the same or shrink over time, while revenues remain constant, and medicaid, medicare and social security grow and grow and grow and grow.....

I saw nothing at the GAO that accounts for this 50% reduction in the dollar.. As compared to what???

As for $455k per household, do realize that these are estimated based on population, employment, wages, and the addition of increased mandatory spending, entitlements and earmarks, over and above the proposed budgetary constraints...

If something were going to have been done, Mcain and Paul should have been doing it... They've been there for a LONG time..

There has been a history on both sides of he isle to ignore this problem... I think the reason for that is, as a congressmen and senator you continue to get $15k per month or more for LIFE even after you leave your post.. Even after on term of service... With all that security, it is quite difficult to expect the dirt bags in the House and Senate to try and understand that there is a problem.. As long as their ass is covered, I really do not think they care.

When you have a federal government that would rather stave off problems by spending $40,000.00 per day to protect a freshmen first time nobody senator with a presidential level of secret service, how can we possibly expect anyone to fix a problem like the big three..

I fixed SS and this other crap a long time ago for myself. I don't pay into it... I put that money in the bank.

Here again, another set of problems that occurred BB (before Bush) and will continue AB (after Bush), yet so many think that Bush is the blame... Others seem to think the War just magically caused all these problems.. Hell, you could try and say that it exacerbated them, but I don't even think that is fair to say.

What we need to do in this country is stop focusing on things like abortion, gay marriage and whether Britney Spears is getting a hair cut, and start tearing apart MMSS (MEDICAID MEDICARE SOCIAL SECURITY). The root of all our debt. The root of all our interest on debt. The root of a falling dollar. The root of all economic woes, regardless of how great the economy is doing, is MMSS!!!! Not the war, not nasa, not government contracts.. Just MMSS

Yes, but the GAO does the forecasting and auditing.

They are only problems, because the surplus balances have been spent. The funds were there at one time.

Of course they grow. More people are retiring all of the time, and our workforce is shrinking. There is a massive wealth disparity in the country and it is continuing to widen. As the middle class erodes, so does the base to keep funding these programs.

Euro. It's actually down 75% against Gold.

The good news is, it's not the result of a weakening economy (yet).

The bad news is, it's the result of rampant monetary inflation, which can only be solved with a contraction, likely facilitated by 1981 era interest rates.

Oh, this is rich. Paul gets beat up for not passing any legislation, and always voting no to spending and tax increases, then you claim he should have done something about this. That's priceless. I can't stop giggling at the irony.

I know one Congressman who opted out of the Congressional pension program, and has never voted for a pay increase. He's also the guy who returns a portion of his congressional budget to the Treasury each year, and has never taken a paid junket at the tax payer's expense.

That is excellent. Personal responsibility. The American way. I'm LOVIN IT!

Gee, and yet there are some on this forum who won't support the only candidate running against entitlements and runaway spending. The one candidate who wants to slash and burn to clean up the mess. The one candidate who doesn't waste his time at the debates pandering, but reminding everyone that WE'RE BROKE.

Yet some are too busy worrying if he is a racist or moonbat. We disqualify the only fiscal conservative with a fantastic record because he goes on the Alex Jones show. Forget that he has lived by his votes, forget that he wouldn't accept Medicaid when he was practicing medicine. Forget that he's the only one on the stage, for either party talking about meaningful fiscal and monetary change.

Gotta disqualify him for Governor Bumpkin who is running on gay marriage, abortion and has a record as a tax and spender.

We're on the threshold of a logic shift. Crossing the threshold is going to be the challenge. But who here is willing to step up and promote the fiscal conservatism and individual economic liberty message? Or is it all just lip service to angst and frustration?

I already have quoted on this thread. The figures are from the mouth of Comptroller General of the United States who is the director of the Government Accountability Office.

He is essentially the auditor of the federal government. You can hear the words from his mouth here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-16u9x3tfE

    He says so explicitly.

As for the currency losing its value take a look at some 10 year charts of the dollar index. The dollar index is a measure of the dollar against a basket of currencies from the US major trading partners.

That's like saying 10 years ago, oh I looked at Enrons books, they're doing awesome. The books have been well cooked. Don't you think it would be prudent to at least look at what the federal government auditor has to stay?

Actually I don't blame George Bush. Americans need to take personal responsibility for the situation for allowing their government to wildly out of control in both spending and size.

It's happened through out history, America is not the first and it won't be the last.

Whatever is going to happen with the economy will not occur until after the election. The FED will print some more dollars for the next 10 months.

Even if the dollar is devalued there still is a lot of value in the US.

A recession is the mosy likely outcome. A depression is farfetched.
