Not necessary, there are a lot of directories maintaining their PR with such words used in the domain. The PR loss maybe due to interlinking. I had once faced similar issue with google. I linked a network of mine, thus resulting in PR loss. Once the interlinking was removed, next PR update all of them gained good PR.
well DP could be one of the source. As far as i see those websites were seen on many other high pr websites that went down. So if by chance you were listed on one of those ... you got screwed as well.. Ex. Plogger >> pr 7 - pr 4 alot of directory owners donated on that site to get a pr 6 or pr 7 link then interlinking google saw these sites interlinking ... they said ok lets see what is special in these sites ... and they went along from there.
Yeah smub, I was listed here - http://www.plogger.org/donate/ Thats another grey hat link building method gone. Seems viral content and linkbait are the only ways forward these days which doesn't help directories at all. Nearly every directory here at DP except for a few lacks serious unique content so will be unlikely to get any natural backlinks....
I have 3 PR5 directories and they all kept their ranks, with internal pages earning PR values. I've never promoted them on DP though.
Got to love Google Time, in a way it's like bath time for the kids, you just throw them all in dirty or not, splash them all around, some blow bubbles that go pop, in the end you get them out, ( pull the plug so the dirt goes down the drain ), dry them off, tuck them into bed with a good life lesson story and then they wake again the next day to do it all again, we hope just that bit smarter than the day before.
It's easy to determine whether your site is directory or something else, but it's hard to know whether it's paid or free. IMO, selling site review post will be poping up.
Really don't have answer to that, I got a PR slap from 4 to 0 this time, I think the Guys at Google keep a close watch on the S/A & the Link sales thread over here on DP
Google keeps a watchful eye on any SEO practices, I think we all know that. If he has those directories hosted with one hosting provider, finding out isn't that difficult for Google. Even if he hosts them on different hosting providers, there's still whois.
I don't think that google is doing that the world is not dp , they are taking the paid link reports and they are working on other algoritm changes. And there is a general misunderstanding google is not only agans paid links but also unnatural links that effects the pr sistem whether they are paid or not. zangief : former pr5 directory owner
Is there anybody still waiting on a confirmed PR, my PR went to 3 from 2 but its showing as not confirmed.
Select any IP range, they will all show its unconfirmed eg: http://www.digpagerank.com/index.php?url=www.web-bin.com&dc=18
