66 CraigsList Prostitutes Arrested

Westchester, N.Y. County police department arrested 66 people in a months-long probe into high-priced prostitution rings that advertised on the popular Website CraigsList.

The Elmsford, Greenburgh, Rye and Rye Brook police departments say the nine-month investigation also netted more than $21,000 in apparent prostitution proceeds. Some defendants were charged with prostitution, others with patronizing prostitutes or other offenses.

Rye Brook Police Chief Gregg Austin says undercover officers set up dates after spotting ads for sexual services on the online clearinghouse Craigslist.

A Craigslist spokeswoman did not immediately respond to an e-mail early Saturday. She has said in the past that the site bans all illegal activity and cooperates with law enforcement.

HAHAHAHAHA. That is funny. I never seen no adds for prostitutes though when I have been on Craigslist. I must have been looking in the wrong section. Bad part is this ain't the first time people have been busted for this on Craigslist.

 

I am very glad to hear that.
Hope others like those arrested will also learn from it and stop such businesses or "trades".

Why are they arrested, is it illegal to advertise adult services online

 

I feel sorry for them. They are just trying to make a living and using the internet to promote their uh.. services

 

in USA selling sex is legal only in Las Vegas. Its illegal in all other states as of I know.

 

No Micheal it is not illegal to advertise adult services. Prostitution is not considered to fall in this category though. Illegal activities now that is a different story.

You are not allowed to advertise those. Prostitution is illegal. If they were just giving lap dancing or stripping they could not have arrested them. Once it crossed into sex for money it became illegal.

In my case yes, 2 replies so far and both were scams from a legalescortsnow.com site which makes you age verify with credit card before arrival. Rates are reasonable, but it's just a big fraud. Gosh darn do I really got to go with red light escorts at like $500/hr or go with a crack prostitute at $10/hr?

PS. It was even an auto-response cause I was like "I'm 16.." lol

 

now they need to arrest the spammers ..... only kidding
