The end of HD DVD?

I think HD DVD is done. The two major studios have switched to Blu Ray DVD.

Do any of you own an HD DVD player? I don't own either, but I'm glad I waited.

I heard it's the first time Sony has won with one of their formats.

No I waited as well but Xbox360 doesnt play Blu-ray only HD-DVD atm so they said they were gonna come out with an extra drive like they did with HD-DVD to play Blu-Ray. Im glad this is finishing up! I thought it was gonna last forever.

Are they going to give you the extra drive for free?

I really don't want them to go exclusive to blu-ray. Means i'll need a blu-ray player for a start, and also the discs cost more.

HD DVD looks done. Warner and others have supported Blu-Ray. Warner originally tried to create the TotalHD disc and failed.

Someone at work said HD DVD is better, at least visually. I have no idea. I don't relish the idea of paying more. I'm actually happy with the current DVDs.

I never seen HD DVD or Blu Ray and don't own anything that would play either. SO I ain't got an opinion on the matter I guess. Is there a noticeable difference between these and regular DVDs? Keep in mind I don't own an HD TV either.

Never seen any Blu-ray disk. I have a HD-DVD stand alone player and I'm really happy with the quality performance it gives. And I'm in no rush to buy Blu-ray player.

Well, I'm glad it didn't drag on for years and have people create a library of HD DVDs only to have them become worthless.

I think HD-DVD is dead too. Personally, I don't really care what format wins as long as this stupid format war is over. I'm enjoying good old DVD.
