i keep getting these promotional offer emails from registerfly, for example here's a part form the one i got today(i was a former customer) Here's whats on mainpage: and On the notice page: http://registerfly.com/notice.php What do you guys think about all this? IMO this is like a bad soap opera, lol
They're still doing business. But don't know for how much longer. They used to be good. But I transfered everything out long time ago. invj
Registerfly is no longer an ICANN registrar but now operates as a domain reseller. (I believe they are a Tucows reseller).
That's right, I have received some of those emails, browsing around thie site and found Registerfly has a new owner and they are still in business as domain resellers like in their early days. I have not longer registerd domains at RF though. ·
I just think that they are there just to sell whatever else they have left. I consider them to be NOT ACTIVE They arent responding to anything and I quit using them after they lost their ICAAN and they had the big enom transfer as registerfly slowly backed into a dark space. I think they deleted my account becasue it doesnt work anymore, i didnt have any domains in it anyway
You can login to your account and just change your email to something you don't use and this is your best option, don't have anything to do with them including wasting time reading their spam.
I read about the same SPAMMING that Registerfly is doing to current customers & past customers, even about people who don't have any names with them anymore over @ Namepros! I suggested that those people should report them for spamming to the appropriate authorities as I believe in the US, there's a law about spamming & getting big fines if I remember correctly? I read over @ NP that one of the members are sending their own spam messages back to them so they should be getting quite a bit of their spam back in their Inbox Lucky I never got involved with these scammers in the 1st place. I'd suggest to report them to the authorities & get paying big fines to teach them a lesson.
I never tried register any domain with registerfly, but I don't think everyone will still register domain with them as they company is having lot of problem.
The RegisterFly saga: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RegisterFly latest info: "A hearing in Newark, New Jersey in December 2007 discussed that the company would be executing what is known as an “assignment for the benefit of creditors.†This is usually a state-court equivalent to a bankruptcy case in which a companies assets are gathered by a third-party, liquidated, then distributed to the company’s creditors in proportion with companies debt to each of the creditors." (no source given)
i wouldnt give them another chance even if the domain was free! maybe if they paid me for it! They were a nightmare so bad other company's felt bad and gave discounts for old registered customers!
They spammed me to renew domains I had already transferred away from them until I sent a request to their helpdesk to leave me alone. After what has happened with that company and the things they did to their customers you would be running a serious risk by registering any domains with them now. I STRONGLY urge you not to use Registerfly for anything.
Registerfly is a bold warning to everyone who owns domains of any value that there are gaping holes in the system. Yes, RF is still in business, AFAIK with the same owner (one of them) and just as shady as ever. They lost the right to sell domains directly so they just bought a reseller and continued on as before. A speaker at the ICANN conference soon after the scandal broke stated that 250,000 domains were lost permanantly to their owners due to Registerfly. That bears repeating: 250,000 domains were lost permanantly to their owners. Nobody got any compensation, ICANN's response was that those who lost domains should consider hiring a lawyer. TYVM. Guys, most of the time the domain system holds together just fine. But realize - there is no safety net.
