Hi there. recently i was selling a software online for $99. i received a good response and made some good bucks. 1 person (Mr.Scammer) made me a payment via paypal and even funds were deposited into my account. so i sent him the software. the very next day, paypal showed me - " Payment Held" and Case opened. (Dispute) I dont understand, he paid me, i sent him the product then what really went wrong and wats gonna happen next? i hav dropped an email to payal customer care also. Paypal have deducted amount from my account also. please guide me, is it problematic for me? or for Mr. Scammer ? thankz in advance.
Problem is for you, you will have to refund him. Paypal always let them win it's really unfair. Unless u can provide them such evidence in the dispute u may stand a small chance.
thats the problem with paypal but i have went through this what the scammers do is pay then wait till they get there item then do a charge back with paypal i have lost a couple and have won a couple if it was a digital download then send paypal as much info about it including a screen shot of there ip adress that downloaded from your site i have done this many times and had good results a better way to protect yourself is list your items as is with no refunds
they have already deducted that amount from my paypal account. is this the thing that can worst happen? am i right?
Yes, the worst that will happen is that the money will be returned to him. Although, if you get a lot of disputes then paypal will contact you to go through a more vigorous verifying procedure.
thats why i decided on a membership site this way only thing they can do is cancel there subscription
That's why people hated paypal. They only look on the buyer's side and neglected the seller. No matter how or what you do to explain to them, it will always seem useless if you are a seller. If only Google Checkout will come up soon.
No, PayPal doesn't always let them win. I bought software from someone, turns out they just gave me a word document with a link to already free software. They did not say they were selling a link. I opened the dispute with paypal, they said that disputes only cover whether you recieved something, not what was recieved.
I wonder why paypal already deduct your paypal funds though the dispute is just open. When someone open a dispute, it is time for you to proof to paypal that you already send the item. Tell paypal it is digital products and provide them the download link so they know that it is true a digital product. In case of digital products, seller is always won because paypal policy says that they don't cover digital products. Do you have a verified paypal account??
Latest Update: I am screwed. Paypal refunded that scammer bastard. what can i do now pals ? any suggestions will be appreciated ! my account is unverified !
From experience, there is nothing you can do. Just learn from the incident, get yourself verified so you look better in Paypal's eyes from here on, and put "virtual goods" in all the items descriptions and you SHOULD be fine down the road.
Buddy thats not how it goes. If they do a regular dispute with paypal you will win because the seller always wins Virtual Item disputes. He did a CreditCard Chargeback, an unauthorized payment. Basically told paypal that he never bought anything like this and that someone went on his account and bought it. There is nothing you can do against this, except if you want you can just send him a CD with your product on it and get a tracking # and provide that tracking # to paypal and I think that way you should win and get your money back. # DIGITAL DELIVERY - NO REFUND That wont protect you from a credit card Chargeback. If you really want your money back just send him the CD and call paypal and ask to talk to a supervisor because the people who work there won't help you for crud.
so now, there is a customer who is asking for a refund for his product because he says he didnt get installation support from me (lies). he is blackmailing me to refund else he will do the chargeback. so what shall i do now?
People like to complain about Paypal and it's policies but how many take the time to actually understand the policies? If you bother to read them...you will be protected better. EXACTLY. I always tell paypal that the person purchased a virtual product and their own policy does NOT protect the BUYER. Never had an issue.
Are you selling a physical product or intellectual property? If you're just emailing a program to someone, cut your loses. Who cares? You broke even. Do something more productive with your time. If you're selling a physical product, well you're out the shipping. Move on. Spend your time making money, not wasting it on loss. Welcome to the business world sonny. You'll have dissatisfied customers, that are dissatisfied for good reasons, and others that are dissatisfied because they're dicks. Give him the refund. You're not out a lot of money. (Virtual product $0 lost, Physical product less than $10). Time is money, and the more resources you waste on someone, the more money you'll lose. The person gave you a reason, you may not agree with it, refund the money, move on. Take my advice to heart please. Move on. The last thing you need is some dick of a customer complaining and screwing up other things. The last thing you want is your paypal account on hold again, and not be able to take any orders. Think of it from a customers point of view. I want to buy this awesome software, but the owner can't because his paypal is on hold. Very professional.
