Overprotective of weed? Who said it does not have any negative impacts? Weed makes people get crazy about weed lol The second you criticize weed half the weed smokers throw a tantrum like "Leeeeeeaveeee weeeeed alooooooneeee!!!!". A German drinker would not protect his beer as much as stoners protect their weed. Did anyone else notice this?

Iv been smoking weed for a year and i would not say its hallucinogenic. Its more of a tranquiliser Yea but people say that smoking as bad and gives you cancer but you don't see smoker kick off about this.
Weed is natures cure all. The government keeps it illegal to keep all the big pharmacy companies in business. We can make clothes, fuel cars, save the world! But the politicians don't like that. (Thats what I learned on the internet)

No. hehe. I do believe there is a lot of things that can be done with Mary Jane, and I do believe a lot of the reason its illegal has to do with politics. Its certainly safer than alcohol. I think it should be legal to grow and use for your own personal use. The fact that the government can take your house for growing one small plant in your yard seems a little goofy to me. I think they should decriminalize it and only penalize those caught selling to minors.
But, to answer the the OP's question, I think that most people defend it so vehemently because it is stupid for a plant that does little harm when used on a personal basis to be illegal. I believe most of the problems that are associated with it come from the fact that it is illegal, not because it is a drug. I have heard that almost 1/3 of the people in prison are in for weed offenses. I think having a family member in prison is a lot more disruptive to a family life than having a person who smokes in the family.
