I heard it from my mom. She just arrived from Canada a month ago. I couldn't believe it! How could marijuana be legal? Are there any countries where marijuana is legal too?
I never heard such rule and I live in Canada, and have for 10+ years! I know they can't charge you for under 2 ounces or something like that here though.
This where I live, I still never heard of this though However, like I said, you can possess a certain amount but above that they charge you *suspecting distribution* too and if they catch you even with a gram they can throw it away.
It is a subject up for debate. Some judges have rules that the laws against procession are not legal. However, they can find other ways to charge you. It is sort of a double edge sword that their legislation will have to sort out.
My sister lives in Vancouver and my mom said that there are many marijuana addicts there and the buy and sell of marijuana's quite visible. I was shocked! I might actually go to Canada early this year... guess it's up to me to find out the truth.
I heard that in canada if you're caught with weed, you would be charged with a 60$ fine... not sure though
I live in Canada, It's only legal for medical use, you can also grow it for medical use. If you don't have permission from your doctor then it's illegal.
I live in Toronto and the law is somewhat disputed, but accepted as: Under 14g = $110 ticket, no criminal charge, no arrest - pot is confiscated. Over 14g = under arrest for possession with intent to traffic. I was arrested on [several] criminal & traffic/HTA charges in August and at the time of arrest I had pot on me. No charge was laid for the pot, the officer just took it (and probably smoked it later that day). Based on whether or not you have it dimed out (several baggies with 1g in each), they can charge you with possession with intent to traffic. However, if you have over 14g on you (all in 1 bag), and they arrest you on possession with intent to traffic, you can fight the charge in court with the defense that the pot was strictly for personal use and, with a decent lawyer, you'll likely get off on the charges. - Mike
^ well stated Wow legal in Ontario? No way (I live here) there are the details to the rule stated above. Canada is not Amsterdam! lol
