I have some softwares that I use to generate and check the available domain names. You can also do it manually with some fixed prefixes and suffixes
Sadly, everything I do ends up with me checking if the domain name is available. Sad... hrm... it has paid for my lifestyle, so I guess it isn't that sad.
You can always use a generator but I don't really like their results that much so if you are creative, then maybe you can come up with some nice names that no one else took Just think, the domain you think up "iCreativeDesigners.com" will make you a millionaire, or whatever name for that matter
Look for the word that matches with your proposed content. shorter the better. The keyword should best describe your website and easy to remember for people to type-in. Since most one word domains are taken the next best is a twoword combo that matches your keywords.
Hi well I have 3 things I do when acquiring a domain name. Certainly this is not a end all but might get you started a fast on a good track I believe and save you tons of money on books about domain secrets. 1. I do use some name generation software: I have some software that generates names from a large list that is already there. I will then look these names over and see if I like something there. The software will also check to see if the domains are available. This cuts Way down on my prep time and often I can use this technique. NOTE: Now if you don't have the software and don't want to buy it off of me for $5 ( including resell rights ) SHAMELESS plug I know. You can use the fine tool at Godaddy just look in there and often you can find some excellent 2 word suggestions to get those creative juices flowing. 2. OK back to that software again: I will sometimes go and get an expiring domain name list from here click the 2 list at the bottom and load them into a text file. Then I will weed out my list of 25 word or less names that contain my chosen keyword(s) end in only dot com. To do that I load my text file into aloudomain filter ( FREE Software just google it ). Now I got a list of nothing but 25 character or less .com that are expiring. I load that into ( yes my $5 program ) and let it check and usually I will get a list of about 100 - 200 expired domains to check out. Time consuming but hey nothing worth having is easy. 3. I go to my trusty Keyword suggestion tool and find keywords with only a few results ( 20K or less ) and that are searched for often ( 60K or more a year ). I construct a domain name out of those words and or key phrases and register it ( if it is available ). Example: fat mp3 download was searched 60K or so times last year and has only 15,400 results in google. NOTE: before someone says there is more put the words in between " " and do the search. OK in case the 3rd way sounds silly to you then go look in google and search for fat mp3 download ( without the quotes even). What 9 day old site is on the first page there? So you see why I use the 3rd way sometimes it is just Search engine candy. I know this got a little long and I tried to cover some good basic ways to uncover some great domain names with potential. These are not some mystical secrets or anything just stuff I got from reading alot and trying them out. I think it can help you get started quite a bit in finding good domain names. I hope this report will be helpful to someone and if so then pass me some green using those scale things.
Write out your list in a text file. Submit the List in Godaddy. It quickly weeds out what is available and what is not. Then pick the ones you want that are available. Cheers Tim
Hi I generally take my subject area of the proposed site and then sit up all night brainstorming good names. Luckily I have always found a name that exactly describes my content. This is hit and miss way of doing things. I do like the keyword tool suggestion above.
Just brainstorm. Think of good keywords, such as "games", which will naturally be taken. Then add easy-to-remember extensions, such as "maxgames" or "goodgames" and search for them + register.
I've heard also with 2 word combos, There is sociological test done where if 2 words start off with the same vowel, constenant or something (I can't rememeber exactly) people will tend to like it remember it more. If anyone here knows what I'm talking about please tell me! I forget what this was called, I wanna read more about this.
Not sure what you are talking of, but I guess two word phrases are good, for example I own compare-mobiles.co.uk and it does exactly as it says. I think that is memorable.
I often have to search for hundreds of names daily for one or two clients, never use software, every name too has to be two or three words absolute maximum and make perfect generic sense, otherwise it's no good at all. If any of you need a hand finding new names in any particular industry, feel welcome to pm me, I'll see what I can do for you. By the way, this is not a free service, I do charge for this as often the many searches can take hours to complete. All names are guaranteed however to be of good to excellent quality and will be available on the .com at the time of search. All letters, no numbers, unless requested. Not many subject matters will stump my mind. Industries I will not touch with a bargepole include: porn or illegal activities. Professional business names are my forte and I'm constantly looking at emerging markets across the globe. If I can assist you, as stated, send a pm with how much you are willing to pay for such a service. I will then tell you how many names I am prepared to send you, in a list, for that sum of money. You can decide from there whether you want to use me or not. I work in British Sterling NOT US Dollars, please bear this in mind. Timewasters I do not tolerate easily. One of my largest clients to date is the owner of Estibot.com who I enjoy a great relationship with. Best regards. Mark Magawr
I look at other related names and sit in front of a computer screen at 2 AM and think of names and put them in an click "search" on a domain checker (NOT NETWORK SOLUTIONS)
Firstly I go around and ask my friends if they have some domains registered which would be good for me, secondly if they don't have one, I try to register new one by checking it manually. Thirdly, I give up and think about new project with other domain name
I also dont' register .info,.net or other TLDs anymore for serious sites. After about 5 months of domaining I've come to notice if I register a .net or .org. (.org is my favorite) Some ass comes around and parks the .com and makes money of the mistaked type-ins. So I make the habit now to get .com or not get it all becuase it burns my ass that someone else will be making money of my work.
use a bulk seacrch tool like namecheaps one and add prefixes and suffixes say you want a batteries domain name so you start adding random keywords like goodbatteries.com betterbatteris.com bestbatteries.com mybatteries.com you create a ton of them then paste the groups into the bulk engine and see what's available and what not
