Has anyone tried bringing up their PR by advertising on Wordpress blogs? I was thinking about buying this software called PR Backlink Generator that supposedly helps you do that.

Commenting in "no follow" blogs will only improve the serps if done properly. You won't get any PR juice from that.

There are a few "do follow" blogs and those may help with PR

Some wordpress blogs have an area on their comment form where you can post your website URL.

    Eh?

Anyway, yes you can build PR that way, if your comments make sense (so you won't get banned) on blogs that have DoFollow or on those blogs that have a top commentator list on their sidebar (you'll have to get listed as top commentator). Other than that, so long with the Software (and if it costs money, let me tell you, it is a waste of money).

As someone above said,I think its might good if the commenting has "do follow" only.. Normally the wp blog has the "no follow" at commenting by default..

Wordpress blogs out there are no followed by default. It is hard to get any link juice from these blogs unless you got your link onto the Top Commentators which some blogs have.

Anyway, don't ever think of spamming Wordpress blogs, you won't get through some of the many Anti-spam plugins installed.

Automated products do little good- I mean you are genuinely spamming.

Try and do it naturally. Manual commenting may take time, but can show results if done properly.

Yes, almost all have it. But the link you get this way has been set to "no follow" most of the time. That is SE bots (big 3) won't visit your site following that link. That means no PR juice will come your way. I have heard that Ask.com doesn't consider this attribute. So, it may help you little bit at Ask.

However the real trick in building PR via blog comments is not in this link. It's in the comment you make. Try to provide a valuable or a controversial comment which would attract more human eyes to your site. It would naturally build your PR.

Agreed, the only comments that will help you is if the blog owner has DoFollow comments installed - and even then, it's not that huge of a help. You'd need hundreds and hundreds of comments for a significant change, from an SEO standpoint. Getting a link in the comments isn't too great because of all the other outgoing links. And Wayne is right, don't ever spam the blogs. :)
