I am seo expert. I am having one 1 year old domain. i have created a shopping cart site on it, and have done a hell lot of promotion. like, onsite optimization, thousands of directories, article submissions, social bookmarkings, link exchanges, blog posts.. tried all the way though which promotion is possible. i have targetted lots of kws containg high to low competition. but its still nowhere in rankings. please give me any suggestions regarding this, how can i make this site coming in ranks.. also someone suggested me changing a server IP address. is this a good idea? will this work?
mads can be right. previous status of the site might be the possible reason for your problem.. another one is the competition on your selected niche and KWs.
Did you buy this domain from some one else? (big mistake imho) Did you made a 1.000 google SERP check? maybe you are ranked on few keywords. If you did all that, you should had good SERPS all ready. If you need help with checking, drop me a pm.

Are you talking about top 1000 serps or the top 10 serps? I agree with Metros. To check top 1000 first. Many dp members provide that kind serp checkers or you can just use Google to search for. here one example tool: google top 1000 serps checker
I've had this problem twice, both because of stupid mistakes. Once was because I had bought a domain without realising it had been previously banned. The other was because I got a directory submission service from someone, like '500 directories for $50', where all the links had the same anchor text (and not for a competitive phrase, so it was complete overkill) The first site took a year to get back, the second I haven't touched it for a long time but it's still missing after 18 months.
Just continue to optimize your site and try to fink quality link which help your site to be on top of SERP.

Site is visible on top 100 SERPs but not on 1st page.. No improvement seen after doing a lot of promotional work. My major question is, I am thinking of changing SERVER IP. what do you think guys. will this work?!!

thanks for response. i said in my previous reply.. around 100-150 pages indexed in google. and also cming in ranks in top 100 serps but not in top 10. i had rankings for same theme sites in a month. but this site is not cming even after lot of promotion..
