I realize that there are a lot of website which are of quite high PR (5-7) but there is not much contents and the traffic to these sites.

Just wonder how they can do it??

Do any people here in DP have experience on that?

But in this way I think there should be also some nice traffic. But it seems that there are some websites with High PR but virtually no traffic.

Getting high quality links doesn't mean that the links will bring in traffic as Page Rank does not have any control over what how targeted a site is on certain topics unless the anchor text used are very targeted or the same.

You said you have seen such sites, can you show us? This might not be the case any more since Google is becoming stricter in assigning Page Rank.

It seems that the webmasters build links to their sites with keywords no one are searching for.

May be that they pay for links or joined a link building service.

True, but it does help when you want to brag :)

I suggest just building natural links and paying for backlinks. It is very simple to obtain a good PR, you just have to work with it and be patient. Just don't stress over it :p

The above poster said it correctly... PR is useless apart from bragging. It only shows backlink power, but backlink power is absolutely pointless without knowing what keywords it's used on (few ways to know this now with Yahoo!'s tools, but still not entirely). In most cases those backlinks are used on the company's name and not any actual competitive keywords.

Anyways, a lot of new sites are getting super high PR and then dropping down a lot after updates, so it's probably just some of that going on. No idea why it happens in the first place. My friend had a valid PR8 for awhile, and it had barely any links (maybe two PR7s and a PR8). Then it dropped down to PR5 after the next update.

I all so belive pr is false and cant be trusted
EG- I have one website that has ben pr3 for ages and has about 2000 back links one site a pr 3 that has about 1000 back links

And did have a site that was pr 5 perdicted pr6 with 12000 plus back links but now the new update it is a pr 3 about 8000 back links
So dont worry about pr as it not matter to the surfer what pr you have only to webmasters that want to sell a site and can get higher price for asite that has a high pr rank.

PR is a strange in a way...Sometimes it's increased only on the good-hearted people's sites...
