Ya, I figured it was contextual ads, but why the tesla ads? Too many conspiracy followers on the forum. So, is Ron Paul a survivalist? I saw it mentioned his articles are on that subject, this would explain a lot about the neo-nazi/identity groups support since they are probably the majority of American survivalists. This stems from their belief about the Jews ruling the world and coming to get them.... The person I know who is in the Identity group does health talks on shortwave for the survivalists and has done talks at their big meetings, but from what I have seen from him interacting with different races is no racism or behaviour changes when around different people.
Those are positions I can agree with. It is a shame other candidates don't agree. However, the idea that decades of newsletters put out under Ron Paul's name, with his knowledge, is somehow not relevant is malarkey. He, like everyone, must account for his actions. At best, it looks like he allowed people to use his name to push extreme racist and homophobic views. At worst, he holds those views himself. Either way, without a full explanation, he is not presidential material.
They could be domain targeted by the advertisers, to be honest, I'm not sure. He likes riding his bicycle and eating chocolate chip cookies. He's a farmer and a doctor. AFAIK, he owns a gun, but never shoots them (not a hunter). It's strictly a second amendment thing. That's what I know about him personally.
Can't say I disagree with that. I'm hoping some more information will be forthcoming, but in the meantime, I'm not into the cult of personality that swirls around these candidates. I want limited government, a safe and speedy end to the war, and I want some damn fiscal conservatism, because we are going broke.
Hey if we can put those positions into a candidate who has a chance, I am with you. RP, in spite of being right on many issues, has too much baggage for me. Some of his supporters are quite transparent in their reasons for their support. Some of them on this website seem to have a fixation with showing how many Jewish friends and associates he has. Don't they realize how pathetic they look; and by extension how bad they make Ron Paul look? I have been more turned off on Ron Paul by his so called supporters on this site, than anything I've seen elsewhere. It is not Gtech who makes RP look bad, it is many of his 'supporters' on this site who do that.
His associates being Jewish was only brought up when people attempted to label him as an anti-Semite. If I call you a racist, and you say "that's ridiculous, I have a history of supporting equal rights, hell some of my best friends are black!" are you being pathetic, or are you defending yourself?
Great point. Debunked, I'd like to know how exactly we are supposed to prove a negative. The negative in this case is, a lack of anti-semetic behavior or opinions.
To add to my previous point, you may respond "I'm not a racist, and if you called me a racist, I'd just ignore it". Ron Paul does not get that courtesy
If I put out racist newsletters then it matter not a twit whether I have a black friend. That is not some magical immunity to being a racist. Yeah, I do think it rather pathetic to defend a claim of a history of racist comments by saying, "I got a black friend." Do you think that somehow having a black or Jewish friend makes it impossible to have said anything negative about those groups. It is a deflection, pure and simple. I have not called RP a racist or anti-Semite. I have called on him to explain his association with 3 decades of racist literature put out under his name. The answer that he likes MLK and has a Jewish friend is tantamount to a non-response.
Great, so you won't be expecting any of us to try to answer for him, because as you said, at best it would be a deflection.
First of all, it was not three decades. If you can prove this, show it to me. I hear this claim carried over, but have not seen it substantiated. This newsletter came out when Ron went back to doing medicine full time. He didn't have a part in it. The style of writing is not his. So yes, if you think he changed his entire style of writing, is really a closet racist when he has 30 years of writings and votes and statements that go against it, has the support of many Jewish colleagues and the endorsement and long friendship of Walter Williams, and believe these claims when even the author admits "Paul has never made a statement similar to these writings", that's fine. I'm not buying it.
Correct, the only real answer will come from Paul or his campaign. He started with newsletters two years after he was elected in 1976. The first newsletter was in 1978. Since we are in 2008, that makes three decades of newsletters. Even if you accept that he did not personally write them, the fact that he allowed his name, his reputation, his political position, to be associated with those positions is just as bad and reflects poorly on him. Rudy has shown his lack of judgment by his support of someone like Kerrik. You get to judge people on how they deal with the people around them. If Paul is lacking in this area, then that is a fair issue to consider.
Dates. Dates. Dates. Show me racist newsletters with dates on them. From what I understand of the situation, there was a limited time when he left Congress and this stuff came out. I may stand to be corrected, but I have yet to see the 3 decades claim substantiated.
Has Ron Paul denied that newsletters were sent out under his name? Why then are you? QUESTIONS FOR RON PAUL: 1. Have you allowed newsletters to be sent out in your name, intermittently, since 1978? 2. Did you write or exercise editorial control over those newsletters? 3. Did you agree with the positions espoused in those newsletters? 4. If not you, who wrote these newsletters? 5. If you did not agree with the positions in your newsletters, what actions did you take? Or did you just allow them to continue? This is basic stuff. He needs to address it. Having someone say, "it is not his writing style" is just lame. This is not some made up stuff, these newsletters exist and they have his name on them. He needs to explain them. I can't think of a reason not to.... ...except that he is not a serious candidate so the issue is really moot.
I'm so fatigued on this topic, but apparently the signature on the newsletters posted doesn't match his signature on anything else. For whatever that is worth.
I just want to hear RP give a response that puts this issue to bed. I can't believe the time I waste in RP on DP. I am considering putting a bounty on my on head to keep myself from reading or posting here. Seriously, I was thinking of posting a thread that first person to capture a screenshot of me in the RP section, each day, gets $5. Of course, I will probably end up wasting my time and money if I were to do that.
I was pretty sure you might have seen this: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/press-re...ew-republic-article-regarding-old-newsletters It was released yesterday morning, and should address all your questions.
It is a start, but he has still failed to address the issue completely, plainly, and directly. Saying he supports Rosa Parks is fine and dandy. But that does not address the racist things that were printed in the Ron Paul newsletter. Did he read the newsletters? When did he become aware of the writings and what did he do about them? Are any of those writers associated with his campaign? He mentions a newsletter while he was out of Congress, but what about the newsletters that were distributed when he was in Congress? Is he saying there were none? To me he is just not saying anything about those, he is limiting his comments to a select set of newsletters, leaving open questions about the entire breadth of them.
Some people on dp are obvious about who they support some are not so obvious. Now tell us Browntwn, do you support Ron pauls belief that we must stop sending our money to all foreign countries and use that money to help the american people and america which will eventually go bankrupt. Im all ears(literally), and im sure im gonna love this answer. I have a feeling folks that i wont get much of an answer. I somehow got a feeling you never wanted to vote for ron paul or even thinking about it in the first place.
