this week v7n was hacked and all that was done was a new page was loaded saying who hacked it what do they get out of it?
Anyone who hacks a site, is a complete noob. You will see, people who report exploits to the owner of the sites, are they good hackers.
they get jobs. on that page on v7n, its gives there email addresses. I bet by the end of tonight they will have tons of mail requesting for them to hack other sites
No they won't. I speek from experience, I was a "noob" once too. When people first learn to hack, they hack sites, once they are veterans, they help people.
Well, they get a lot of things believe it not: 1. They get attention from people visiting sites 2. They show off the site to their fellow 'hackers' 3. They may install a trojan or virus onto the website that automatically installs a script or malicious program on everyones computer that visits the site. 4. They could get opportunities sent to their e-mail, but the people that send email for hack requests will have no cash to burn typically, so they mostly get spam mail. Edit: I forgot to mention of course everyone knows this, but they collect information from the database of the forum, or the userbase of the site, whatever it is, and they sell or use the credit cards, check the passwords with their e-mails to see if they match, or sell everything for a lower price than they would be checking everything themself.
Probably hired by someone who take revenge, also they page like that e.g v7n, they put their email address and i think it is kinda advertisement - self promotion.
Hacking is not hard especially when people do not know there are exploit to almost anything you just have to find them. You never hear about real hackers the kids that do this kind of thing are mostly looking for attention. Most do not even know how to do it themselves the run a script and think they are Elite. One day I hope these kids run into a real hacker and see what it is all about. Hacking sites is stupid and really only proves to the real community that you are a moron. Any two bit script kiddie can into a site it takes a real hacker to get and get out unnoticed. Shawn

I think Hackers for me is a Job? They get paid for trashing someone's site that competes with the clients site or business per se. Still not sure so correct me if I am wrong.
That's precisely what I would call them Webby. It does not take skill to do this only the right program. You are correct the real hackers become the new security experts of the world. They do not do it for fame or glory they do it because they want to. They do not need others to tell them they did a good to feel good about themselves. That is not necessarily true either. You have no control over the server and if the server has holes in it you can really do nothing about this until you have proof it does. Also like to point out cpanel DOES have holes in it. All programs do. The exploit is just setting there waiting to be used. Shawn
