First of all, i have to tell everyone that i DON'T HAVE vista so i can't really comment on its usability ( not sure if thats a word)...however, from frist sight it does looks quite sleek and pretty...but i dont think it is worth all that money just to get something to look good...
I don't have Vista either but most of my customers want nothing to do with it. They read articles in pc magazine, pc world, c|net that says not to upgrade. The ones that do have it can't believe their new computer can't do more then XP since it has a better processor and more memory. They were expecting a lot more for their buck.
you guys are just too old fashion. Get out of the past and into the new! Throw away XP and get into vista. Are you going to stay lame forever? When the new microsoft OS comes out, will you still be on XP? Come on, UPGRADE! You all sound like grandparents!
Isn't that the Truth!!! We are seriously thinking of finding XP machines on eBay rather than buy new ones with Vista on it. Our last laptop has Vista and we HATE it!! This is the problem with a company like Microsoft having a monopoly. The DOJ really screwed the country by failing to do their job over the last 15 years!! IMHO LOL
Microsoft has had the pattern since DOS 1.0 (maybe even Altar Basic!)... crappy version usable version crappy version usable version... Vista is currently a crappy version. Maybe next one (the SP2) will be okay. But, we are awfully tired of the Microsoft roller coaster. These Microsoft evangilest are not modern, they are newbies to the Microsoft way.
I would much rather buy a new machine with XP on it than vista. because of vista, I am holding off upgrading my machine
And, I would like to point out that I was a Microsoft focused professional from 1994 to 2002... one of the first MCSE and MCSD, with over 25 current certification exams passed at one time... and a whole slew of other certification titles. Microsoft typically breaks systems that are already working fine by forcing upgrades with crappy not-needed software. With a Linux system, once you get it working it continues to work robustly. And, Banyan VINES was probably the best of the bunch (for Enterprise) before Microsoft took over that market! RANT! RAVE! VENT! Of course, on the other hand, Microsoft keeps Systems Professionals employed, if that is all one cares about.
Hmm.. Saying Vista uses to much memory.. when I am on XP with one of the best laptops money can buy.. Look at page file usage..
Where I live we have a big problem almost everybody is Microsoft Certified not Oracle, Red Hat, Cisco, etc. Which means salaries for Microsoft certified are way down.
It's funny as soon as everybody eventually upgrades to Vista, Microsoft will come with Vista's replacement.
I use Windows Vista. My school still has Windows XP on all their computers. I do like Windows Vista. Why? It's a LOT more secure and a LOT more stable. It's not a slow operating system but it is a bulky one. It does have a lot of processes that run and yes it requires a lot of virtual memory (RAM) to run smoothly, but who gives a fuck? Computers are getting better and better nowadays, and our memory is getting larger too. 1GB of RAM isn't a lot anymore. 2GB and 4GB of RAM is standard now...it's technology evolution, baby. Windows Vista still runs fast. It does take a little long to load in my opinion, but it runs programs a lot more smoothly out of my experiences compared to Windows XP. It's still a relatively new operating system. There's a lot for Microsoft to improve - there will always be room for improvement in Microsoft's programs, everyone knows that. Compatibility issues will be fixed as the year progresses: this happens with ALL new operating systems, software companies need to recode their software for better computers and better technology. I do, however, wish Windows Vista 64-bit was better than it currently is. The 64-bit version of Windows Vista has a LOT of incompatibility issues, which is a shame because that's the technology we should be stepping into. I will always use Windows for my home business use. Servers I will always use Linux or Unix. Windows Vista doesn't 'suck'. It's a great operating system, really. Give it a chance. The first time using it, it's not that impressive, but does an operating system needs to be? As long as it fulfills necessary tasks, performs programs, is stable, and most-importantly is secure, it really does its job of operating a computer system successfully. Try it before you knock it. Microsoft will continue to improve it...just with Windows XP, there will be updates. It took a few years for people to get over Windows 98 and Windows 2000 to move to Windows XP; the same with software developers to code their software into Windows XP. I suspect things like this won't change. Windows Vista will become compatible with a lot of software out there in the near future. For now, all the programs I need are compatible with Windows Vista. ALL of them.
Funny, I thought it was just worthless because a sweetly retarded rhesis monkey on crack could get a M$ cert.
I like Vista, then again I need it too... (dx10 gaming). Mmm I dunno maybe I'm just fooling myself? XP was much faster... but I must have my (Windows Key) + (Tab)!
PC at home: 1.8Ghz Athlon 512Mb Ram, XP PC at work: 3Ghz pentium 4 2Gb Ram, vista My work PC is noticeably slower than my home PC AND my home PC is more stable. My work PC had Vista installed 4 months ago, while my home PC is going on 18 months. Even with a cluttered registry and much slower hardware, XP is outperforming Vista.
if WinXP already could finish all jobs, unless Vista could do the job more efficiency, otherwise, no reason to upgrade
That is why most people do not upgrade. There is no benefit to upgrading. It's like buying a new car that looks good but does not have a better motor or better gas mileage.
