I am not sure you've heard of the term "mutual-respect" before. It is like give-&-take... Thats how the world co-exists.

If you won't respect my parents, I may not respect yours. Its that simple. You don't have to study religion to understand that stuff. It comes naturally to normal humans.

I think you should read my post again.

I hope my point is clear to you now.

I do not dispute your freedom, but at the same time, it should be remembered that "Freedom of Expression does NOT mean a freedom to insult others"

This "mutual respect" always seems to consist of other people doing what you say. Well enough of that. I don't have to respect your rules and i'm not going to. They are your rules, they apply to you and you alone. Myself, other non-muslims or wikipedia have no obligation to stop doing something simply because it's against one of YOUR rules.

If you are offended that's ok, You are perfectly entitled to be offended. What you aren't entitled to do is tell people what they can and can't do.

apparently they were painted around 1300 ad or something of muhammid who i am pretty sure was a real actual guy according to their book. which means that they can't draw his face? Did he walk around without a big censored image on his face his whole life or something? doesn't make sense to me...

Exactly, they are not "fake photos," because they are not even photographs. They are drawings by an artist from many centuries ago that have survived to this day, and therefore hold some form of academic, artistic, and historic value on their own apart from what they depict. The fact that they depict something that is not allowed by one religion cannot be of concern for Wikipedia, as it is not their mission to appease the various religions of the world. I'm sure there is something on Wikipedia to offend the easily-offended members of nearly all religions. A petition should not control the content of an encyclopedic website. If that particular image offends you, I suggest that you either ignore it or at most make sure that Wikipedia notes the offensive nature of the content to certain religions so that they might add to the intellectual discussion of the controversial content.

Thank you. That is what I was thinking. If no images are allowed, how would one know what he would look like.

But on the other hand just like other governments, religions, business's and people. You do need to respect their rules and laws just like you want them to do for you. Each business, religion government have different laws pertaining to what you are speaking of. But you have to be an adult and respect others of their decisions.

The intensions are what matters, i don't see any bad intensions in this. However it'd be appropriate if they remove those as they don't provide any spesific information.

Wiki dont know and cannot bother about what offends someone because something will alway offend somebody. I dont think that everything that offend somebody should be removed from wikipedia.

Lol that's so ridiculous. If you banned everything that offended every single person, we'd be left with nothing. I'm offended by Islam because of their attempts to suppress free speech.

islam is the most ever religion that support speech that doesn't offend others.

islam did not punish scholars and scientists in Europe in the dark ages.

1.) Why do I care about the number of people who are offended? I'm sure not all of them are extremists and care about a simple drawing on a website.

2.) Why do I care about someone in Austria being arrested? I live in the United States.

Interesting, I never knew that seeing the face of Islam is considered wrong. But it does bring up a question, if he can't even show his face, how am I supposed to worship him?

Wikipedia is not a religious website thus they are not subject to any religious dogma. You can't expect other people to live by your religion's rules. That's just ridiculous.

We don't all believe what you do and we're not bound to live by the rules the religion you chose lays out.

This goes for Muslims, Christians, Jews, etc. I'm beyond tired of hearing religious people telling the rest of the world what we can and can't do because of your beliefs.

I'm an atheist now but I was a Christian for some 15 odd years and I don't remember telling the rest of the world how to live.

    Get over it.

"In Islam" it is "not allowed"... But last I checked, "WikiPedia" IS NOT "ISLAM"...

Give it a rest.. There is more in life to worry about than some juggernaut online information center that is edited by its own users...
