I was always curious to wonder sites like download.com and how much hosting resources they used... lol A download site like this would very fun to market because its a free site. Yet I wonder much the profits outweigh the hosting resources because I am assuming they are tremendous What do you guys think?
$99/month for a premium membership... I have one and I imagine thousands of other people do. I don't think they host ALL downloads anyway, but the website wouldn't be alive now if it wasn't breaking profits. If you do make one, add a fee to speed up submission etc... lots of ways to monetize
that's not always true, look at amazon.com. I don't know if they are making a profit yet, but they have always lost money in the past.
So, I would do the same as terryuk said as Download.com would break their income successfully otherwise they should have gone
