Your article should content an unique content which is very high quality content.
Never copy and paste others article and content,
when you are having your own article than start submitting in various article directories. Article resource must be placed on your website.
In author box you may place up to 3 links but it should be done wisely.

Here is the great list for submissions.

    Article Directories List

    Thanks and Regards,

Google seems to be OK with article directories as long as the quantity and quality are high enough. I would not recommend submitting to more than 50 directories per article and also make sure to vary a few things such as the article summary and the bio box as well as the anchor text going back to your site. I usually do 3 bio variations and 2 intro variations but keep the body the same.

    Gd Luck

Do you think in whichever 50 directories you are submitting those 100% will be focused by Google and will give you back link ?

"PLS MAKE SURE TO HAVE LINK POINTING BACK TO YOUR WEBSITE" while posting articles, otherwise your article promotion can deliver duplicate content penalty on your website. Since article websites get crawled frequently, it could be possible that google bot might label your "original website" as duplicate website.

Make sure you have links pointing back to your website while publishing articles :)

1 and only rule (I have), ALWAYS submit quality content which helps people or informs people. Spend $100 on a good article rather then $100 on 20 crappy ones :)

Crawling doesn't have anything to do with which article copies are seen as duplicate or not.

Simple rules such as limit to number of characters, limit to number of links to your resource box and must not contain link on the main article.

That's a good point you raised you, regarding author name.
But generally author of article is considered by the resource of that article.
You are providing your article resource link while submitting,
That's work as the author of article, not the Pen name or registered user name will become the author of article,
But it's advisable to create user name with your organization name,

If your article is very unique than you can submit in so many directories.
    Thanks,
    Chaitanya Patel.

Write articles with the idea of making quality content that other webmasters will want to use on their sites. If your article is unique and useful it could be reprinted on many other sites, gaining your hundreds of backlinks besides just the one from the directory.

I personally try to vary the link text for each article. It would look suspicious if you suddenly get 100+ links all with the same anchor text. Use a bunch of variations for your link anchor text and you should have better results. That way you are also improving your rankings for all of those variations. With that strategy you might find it is much easier to rank well for a different term than you had originally targeted as your main phrase.

The focus of article writing should be creating a great article that others will want to share. The direct traffic and industry exposure will be just as good as the search engine rankings.
