My site is around a month old and it has been seo'd greatly. Just wanna let people know that google is a monopoly. I don't think any search engine can compete with them. lol

Those stats look just like mine. On my polling site I would love to be ranked #1 for "create a poll". I'm in the top 10 for msn and yahoo, but I'll get more traffic from google on misc. searches landing on the polls. Completely off topic keywords are doing better for me on Google than my target ones on msn and yahoo.

I am surprise at MSN results, Microsoft just spend another $1.4 billion buying another search engine and they have been spending tons of money on their search. Surprising it is even worse than Netscape, which is a has been company. I wonder why the surveys always put Google Yahoo and MSN as the top 3. From my experiences and from profanitytalker, this really does not seem to be the case. Mine is 100% google.

Are you ranked in the same position for all those search engines? If not then it wouldnt exactly be the same to compare. However it is common for google to get 95% or more of most sites traffic.

Maybe one day most other search engines will shut down as they can't beat Google.

That will not happen as u.s law states that a company cannot get to powerful or they will be shutdown themselves. But I think google is already a monopoly if they get 99% of my traffic.

They won't be shut down but may be ask to dismantle some of their business units. USA Anti trust laws are quite powerful, Microsoft experienced it when they incorporate IE into their OS.

But honestly without google, which search engines do you want to use? I can't think of any decent ones around.

I only get traffic from Google and a bit from yahoo. Google has officially taken over the search engine market.

Google has 70%+ of the search traffic but they aren't a monopoly. There's nothing to stop searches from using msn, yahoo, ask or any other search engine.

he, he monopoly? They own it when it comes to search, like it or not.

Personally I like Yahoo to hang with other people and Google for information retrieval. Here's a comparison that shows Yahoo top dog with people count.

Monopoly is when there is only one supplier and many buyers, Google does not yet have a monopoly over the search engine industry, but I can say that they have a great degree of monopolistic powers.

If Yahoo fails and Microsoft decides to withdraw from the search engine, then they will be a monopoly and they will get into trouble with anti trust laws. So it can be a bit strange that they should be hoping that their competitors survive :)

Personally I have no problems with monopoly's because I don't think that there really is such thing as a monopoly, because everybody can be beaten.
