Fine fine fine Your choice bud ... I'll put the $10,000 back in my case. Hit me up when the site is set up ... we'll help you promote the living hell out of it.
Sorry but its a rubbish idea. Nobody is going to rent a domain from you. The whole point of promoting and running a website is to build a brand and build traffic. If the domain is rented, then you can take it back at any time and all the persons hard work and money spent is completely wasted.
Take a look at https://www.sedo.co.uk and see some of the prices domains like your have made in the past. You may just change your mind about selling it. What ever you do, don't let a name like BRAG.COM go cheap it's got to be worth at least $500,000 plus. I wish you all the best in what ever you do with it... just to show you what some domains are making heres the latest bids on sedo kosovo.com 790,000 EUR tell.com 500,000 $US europeans.com 450,000 EUR sleepingpills.com 450,000 EUR lotteryresults.com 400,000 EUR streetmaps.com 375,000 $US lovelife.com 350,000 $US defy.com 350,000 $US main.com 250,000 $US magnified.com 250,000 $US participate.com 200,000 $US somebody.com 150,000 $US and a lot of these have no or very little traffic at all... Mike
Is it your domain, or the OP's? Those arent actual sale prices though, just what people have listed them for. It doesnt mean they are worth that, the OP should try finding stats of actual sale prices.
As with anything it's only worth what someone is going to pay for it. I did a bit of digging and found this which plp may find interesting. http://www.pacdesco.net/techandcarsblog/2007/08/20/top-most-expensive-domains-ever-sold/ vodka.com was sold not so long ago and made, if I remember right from the sedo newsletter over a million. What would offer ? Mike
Vodka.com and brag.com are both short, 1 word domains, but thats where the similarity ends. Vodka.com could be bought by Smirnoff or Grey Goose or someone, they sell a huge amount of vodka worldwide and can pay big money to help promote that. "brag" on its own isnt a product or brand or anything, its not in the same league as vodka.com
Got to chime in with Vic_Mackey. Leasing is a terrible idea. SHort term you get some traffic and then when your brand starts to build your lease runs out and you have to start all over again with someone else getting yoru traffic. Four letter domains are great but branding can be done other ways besides having a short domain name.
I like the idea of licensing the rights to someone to use if they like. I believe AOL paid a mint for "wow.com" years back -- never used it, but locked up the rights for a long-term deal. You'd definitely want to get lawyers involved, though -- I think you'd be talking about big money. I can definitely see social networking applications.
That is an outstanding domain you have there! Great job in obtaining it; not sure if it was luck or perhaps you've had it for several years? It has HUGE potential, and IMO the best thing for you would be to sell it for some serious cash as already previously mentioned. Someone will take this domain and make it big one day; if it isn't going to be YOU then why are you sitting on the equivalent of winning a small lottery? Take the money and run, then invest in something that you are more comfortable with... real estate perhaps? We are being serious about these figures; I have a feeling you really don't know what you have.
Turn it into an adult xxx reality site...about a guy who brags about this girls he has sex with...we can make millions...pm me if your interested and I think we can do this. let me know.
A lot of the one word sites like guns.com or comic.com don't have anything going on. But hey, big companies pay millions for 20 second tv ads, so why not 500k for a domain name. You're right that commerical words like pet, sex, and movie are worth more cash.
Name is probably worth $15,000-$25,000 undeveloped - very easier to remember and spell, perfect for a social networking site...
someone may find this of interest from the Sedo news letter..24 Jan 08 1) Auctions: 2007 was the year of domain auctions both in the form of online auctions as well as the first ever live Sedo domain auction. Already back in 2006 it was predicted that the introduction of a public sales venue would have a positive effect on the domain marketplace. The results were very encouraging: the auction allows both parties to quickly come to an agreement, as well as ensuring that the auction is visible to a much wider proportion of users through Sedo’s website allowing domain sellers to increase sales revenues. Our personal highlight was the first Sedo Live Auction that took place in Hamburg. Among the many domain names that were put into auction, the domains städtereisen.de (city breaks) sold for 73,500 EUR ärzte.de (doctors) 56,000 EUR and Hawaii.de for 22,000 EUR. Domains Recently Sold at Sedo Click.net 56,000 USD Seatbelts.com 12,000 USD Should.com 6,800 USD New.mobi 4,350 USD SayCheese.co.uk 2,700 EUR MusicStar.net 2,500 EUR Reject.net 2,400 USD Tumors.net 2,200 USD FindStudentLoans.com 2,000 USD LiveFootball.net 1,945 USD real sales real money... How much is your domain worth ??? Mike
Yes, I think that leasing has viability also... I am looking into the social networking apps...anyone use dolphin or pligg?
Idea, make it a simple social networking site where people log in to a default layout that lets them add all the cool stuff they own, videos or descriptions about it, and wishlists. Have each item attatched to a ranker from 1-20 and have the main page link to the "coolest" things, or the "coolest" people. Have a games and questionnaire section that let's you earn "bragging rights" which will be some sort of points or something that go towards... i don't know. I ran outta steam. Anyway, kids will eat it up. Hell alot of adults probably will too. Maybe try to gear the site a little less towards material possessions by suggesting people put up works of art or talent as well. But really, you material crap what way too many people care about, just flip on the tele. People love checking out other peoples cool stuff, so capitalize on it. Oh, and add a wishlist too.
thats a bloody good domain! i have a pretty nice domain name i dont use...www.shopinme.net... im going to keep it for 5 years
