feedback on wp theme

well i made this theme and im almost done with it - still need minor code changes to make it perfect and the name is GF WP-Brown - where GF stands for Gamers Forum, named after my forum

It is kind of a brown feeling and it was actually meant to be blue, but i had to make images that worked so brown fit

comments on how i can make this better and constructive criticisms only - if you think it sucks and you can't tell me what i can do to make it better - don't bother replying

it is xhtml and css validated so there is no problems with that

Its ok, doesn't offer much that is new. As a designer i find it boring.

 

well it was my first completed and im not a wiz at graphics work lol, so i just went with what I know - working on another one right now, hopefully that one is much better

in my honest opinion the structure is great but i dont like the colors

 

it was blue at first lol, but i kept on screwing with the gradients and colors and it turned out to be brown - its much nicer than it was so i stuck with it

 

At first thought, anyone can term this as a boring theme.

But you will be amazed at this, but themes like these are liked around a lot by people! The reason being the factor of easy customization. Anyone with a bit of a graphic sense can work around the header and change a couple of graphics here and there and have an altogether new theme. That's the beauty of stylesheets!

However, if you're looking to release this theme for linking needs, I'd vote against it. As a matter of fact, I'd suggest you hire a designer to do the header for you.

Also, on the color scheme front. Keep the body text black, and the reddish color that has been used for the body text should be used in the post title. Keep the Blog title of the same color as the post title and add a sub-title in bold black color. The current text color combination isn't that good.

alright thanks for the tips, i'll try to change up the text colors

and if i hire a designer to do the header, i wont learn anything at all, I made this theme to get some practice out and if i let others do the work for me, i see no point in making the theme anyway

but as you said people probably will like it since its easy customization so im hoping that can play a part in when I do release it and get some backlinks

 

Well, if you're just starting then it's okay.
I don't see anything not aligned, that's a good sign.

 

lol coding isnt too hard for me, i can manipulate the wp codes easily, just the graphics part that gets the best of me - im not too good with colors and whatnot lol

yea, i've only started making headers and body parts for websites recently - i moved last week so a lot of things and plans were put aside for this - hopefully i get a bit better and my next one looks better
