I am not here to start a war just wondering why you support the side you support is all.

Here are some stats with blu-ray on the left and hddvd on the right. I will keep an eye on this thread and update it with more info as I am able to.

    50GB>30GB
    More Bandwidth>Less Bandwidth
    More Studios>Less Studios
More Players Sold (3 Million)>Less Players Sold (800,000)
More Hardware vendors (Most every CE maker)>Single Hardware Vendor
Scratch Protection Layer>No Scratch Protection Layer
Region Coding>No Region Coding (RC gives Studios like WB control they want.)
More disc sold (65%)> Less discs Sold (35%)

Please leave which player you own or are wanting to purchase in your responses.

Blueray looks to be in the lead, but I honestly couldn't care less for either format at this point. My TV isn't even HD, and regular DVD's work well enough for my usage.

Maybe in a few more years i'll start to feel different.

Understood your point. I am a HD addict now and love it all.

As for a few years - you will need to update your TV by Feb 09 to support Digital and HD - everyone will.

blu-ray is ofcourse going to come out on top becuase they have huge amounts of advertising money, and have already gotten many contracts with disney and thing like that.

Looks like Warner and Universal have jump ship and come exclusive to Blu-Ray - its a done deal for HD DVD it seems. Paramount will be next I am saying by mid summer if not sooner.

I'll wait it out. It's not worth it to have movies in two formats. Maybe I'll buy a blu-ray because a least Sony will always support it.

Common misconception. If you have cable or satellite, you will be able to continue to use your SDTV. Only those that rely on over the air broadcasts (i.e. rooftop or rabbit ear antennas) will have to upgrade or purchase converter by 2009.

In MD you will need to upgrade Comcast will send ONLY digital signals from what we have been told. NOT that I care but that is what I have read.

As much as I dislike Sony, I thing Blu-Ray is better. That doesn't mean they'll win the battle however.

The funny thing is people still dont understand the difference between HD ready and Full HD. Secondly, people assume to see better picture on normal digital broadcast.

People need to get more educated before they buy products. If your cable doesnt provide HD signal, even if you put a bloddy $10000 TV, its not going to change the signal to HD.

Blu-ray will eventually lead HDVD unless there is strong support from the market. always remember what the manufacturers accept as a standard becomes a standard.

I voted HD, because I wwould never pay $500+ for a dvd player. My Toshiba HD-DVD player was $130 and th hd movies look perfect.
Blu Ray will probably win, but the players will be much cheaper then.

Understood your point but there are NEW Blu players for under 250 now. So 500 is only for the high high end of the players.
